Boss 1 Help

How do I beat the first boss. I feel incompetent not being able to finish a game that I bought for my four year old son but I cannot figure out how to beat the first boss. I can take off his first layer of health but then he flies around shooting whilst invincible. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Ah yeah this one's quite clever, for a kids' game anyway...
Change to Spidermonkey and hang around inside the electrical pit, in the middle is best. When the Techadon hovers above you he will attempt a ground pound. Quickly jump out, jump up the ladder, switch to Brainstorm and shock him as he's in the pit. Do that a few times and you're done.

Thanks. Does anyone have any idea why he falls into the pit. It doesn't seem to make sense to me. Still at least I can move on now and try and restore my self worth.
