Achievement Guide + Road Map
![]() Roadmap Price: 800MSP Total Achievements: 20 / 200 ![]() Solo: 16 / 160 ![]() Multiplayer: 4 / 40 ![]() Estimated Achievement Difficulty: 9/10 Avatar Awards: Yes (2) Minimum Number of Playthroughs Required: 3 Recommended Number of Playthroughs: 3-6 Missable Achievements: none Glitched Achievements: Tools of the Trade (sometimes doesn't unlock), Prime Target Time to Complete: 30-80 hours (less if you’ve finished the game on Perfect Agent before) Cheats: Yes, but they’re unlocked with progression through the game and for beating missions under set times on specific difficulties Do Cheats Effect Achievements: Yes (mission progression, and achievements disabled by cheats) Does Difficulty Effect Achievements: Yes (achieves for completing each difficulty, Paci-Fist only achievable on Special Agent or above, some crowns for Crowning Glory only available above specific difficulties) Introduction The spiritual successor to Goldeneye on the Nintendo 64, Perfect Dark finally makes its way from the 64 to the XBLA to join 4J Studio’s two Banjo ports. A huge package, the game has a range of solo, cooperative, and competitive game modes, along with a plethora of unlockables. Most people should be able to obtain close to all achievements, with Perfect Agent, Prime Target, and Crowning Glory providing the main challenge on offer. Mini Guide Start on Agent and work your way through. This also allows you to get used to the maps and weapons before you go up against smarter AI and have to deal with more difficult objectives. Perfect Agent, Crowning Glory and Prime Target are the hardest achievements here and will require the most work. Work on as many of the Crown requirements as possible during this playthrough. By the time you finish Agent, you should have How's That For Starters, Both Barrels, Act Your Age, Joanna, Camera Shy, and Double 64 (if you've been taking advantage of your weapons secondary modes). After finishing Agent, either start on Special Agent or complete as much of the Combat Simulator challenges as possible. After completing Special Agent and the majority of the CS challenges Perfect Agent will be much more achievable. If you focus on getting the three Specialist achievements during the Agent playthrough, you should end up with all weapons or very close to- when you have them all head to the firing range (take a left from the room you start in, take the elevator down, then take a right and head on through the first door you come across) to unlock Tools of the Trade and gain access to The Duel, which will make Paci-Fist very easy. The multiplayer achievements (Versatile, Golden Days, A Friend Indeed, and ...Who Needs Enemies?) can be obtained at any time. Deadly Laptop is best achieved in multiplayer. There’s a glitch in the game code that allows you to move faster- if you run on a slight angle and strafe at the same time, you can run faster. You’ll need to do this for speed runs (to unlock any of the timed cheats and to get the speed run crowns) and it also makes you a bit harder to hit, which is useful everywhere (though it's more dificult to aim properly while doing it)- exploit it wherever possible. You can also move faster by continuing to move in one direction without strafing for ~3 seconds. Apart from Crowning Glory and the multiplayer achievements, most people should be able to pick up everything just playing through the game. How's That For Starters? - 10 ![]() Complete dataDyne Central - Defection. A very simple achievement- complete mission 1.1 on any difficulty. If playing on Agent, all you need to do is reach the hidden elevator (take the elevator furthest from you after coming down the stairs, closing the door until it goes to the ground floor, head down the stairs and to the left- the wooden feature in here is a door and the hidden elevator isn’t too far past). Just keep heading down, blasting any enemies that get in your way (it’ll only take 1 or 2 shots to drop each enemy on Agent). Both Barrels - 5 ![]() Kill an enemy when dual-wielding The smaller weapons are the only ones that can be dual wielded (eg handguns, CMPs, Cyclones). The first opportunity to do this in campaign is on mission 1.1- there you can find a guard with dual Falcon 2s (he’s the one with a helmet, found two floors below Cassandra’s room- check the video under How’s That For Starters for the exact location). Alternatively picking up two of the same small weapon in a combat simulator game (can be in a challenge or regular game) also works. Equip both guns and kill the first thing you see to unlock this. Act Your Age, Joanna - 5 ![]() Destroy Carrington's wine collection When you get into the basement of Carrington’s villa in mission 2 (at the end of the level), there’ll be a number of wine bottles in racks throughout the area. Destroy all of them and the achievement will pop (you’ll hear Carrington say “Act your age Joanna” when all the bottles are broken). Make sure you don’t move into the room where Carrington is tied up until you’re finished with all the bottles, as this ends the mission. This must be completed in solo to count. Double 64 - 10 ![]() Kill 128 enemies using secondary fire mode Pressing activates the secondary mode of your currently held weapon. Kills with almost all weapons count (the secondary function of the Laptop Gun does not, the Sniper Rifle and Goldeneye guns have no secondary fire). This is cumulative across all game modes.

![]() Camera Shy - 10 ![]() Destroy 5 security cameras. Cameras can be found only on missions 1.1 and 6.1. If spotted by a camera, you'll set off an alarm and have guards called to your position. It only takes a few bullets (or one well placed explosion) to destroy each camera. This is cumulative and does not need to be done on a single mission or difficulty, though you can get it fairly easily be the end of your first playthrough. Note however that you need to destroy 5 DIFFERENT cameras- repeatedly destroying a single camera doesn't work. ![]() Deadly Laptop - 10 ![]() Kill 50 enemies using the laptop in sentry gun mode. Can be completed in a custom combat simulator game. Set the score limit to 50 kills, all weapons as laptop guns, max fistsims/peacesims on meat difficulty (all on the one team), one hit kills, and hide in a room with only one access point (Felicity has a few rooms like this, in particular one not far from the stairs heading up to the toilets in the main area). Place a sentry in front of the entrance and watch as they charge and get ripped to shreds. You’ll need to replace the sentry every once in a while (as it only has a limited amount of ammo). This is cumulative across all game modes. ![]() Paci-Fist - 10 ![]() Complete any Solo Mission on Special Agent or harder using only your fists. The easiest way to do this is on the secret mission The Duel (which unlocks after completing at least bronze level on all 32 weapons in the firing range) on Special Agent difficulty. As you start off, change to your fists and run around the partition to your right, keep running until you get close enough to punch the guard. If you stop behind the partition, you’ll get killed as soon as you move out. Next you have to fight Jonathon, which is actually easier than the first guy since he always hides behind the partition anyway. Head behind there and punch him in the back and he’ll drop with one or two hits, netting you the achievement. ![]() Tools Of The Trade - 10 ![]() Get a Bronze rating or better with all 32 weapons in the Firing Range. Completing the first challenge for each weapon will give you a bronze rating. All of these are fairly easy, however you will need to unlock each weapon first before being able to use them (picking up each weapon from either campaign or the combat simulator challenges unlocks them). Here’s a list of the weapons you’ll need (in firing range order): | Falcon 2 // Falcon 2 (scope) // Falcon 2 (silencer) // MagSec 4 // Mauler | Phoenix // DY357 Magnum // DY357-LX // CMP150 // Cyclone // Callisto NTG | RCP-120 // Laptop Gun // Dragon // K7 Avenger // AR34 // SuperDragon | Shotgun // Reaper // Sniper Rifle // Farsight XR-20 // Devastator | Rocket Launcher // Slayer // Combat Knife // Crossbow // Tranquiliser | Laser // Grenade // Proximity Mine // Remote Mine // Timed Mine Head here for guides to all 96 weapon challenges. As of Title Update 2, if this achievement glitched previously it should unlock the next time you start the game. If it doesn't, you might need to start redoing the challenges in a fresh save (using a usb stick is a good idea if you want to keep your old save). ![]() Versatile - 10 ![]() Complete a Combat Simulator game using each of the six Scenarios. All six scenarios are available from the start of the game. The scenarios are: - Combat - King of the Hill - Hold the Briefcase - Capture the Case - Hacker Central - Pop a Cap Complete a match in each scenario to unlock the achievement (any settings work: eg 1 minute games, first to 1 point etc). ![]() Golden Days - 10 ![]() Complete a Combat Simulator game on Felicity, Complex or Temple using Classic Weapons. Pretty simple- complete a combat simulator game on one of the 3 Goldeneye maps with one of the Classic weapons sets. Any game type and rules work. This is obtainable from the start of the game. ![]() Prime Target - 10 ![]() Complete every Challenge up to and including 29, the 10th Prime number. One of the harder achievements for the game. The challenges start off fairly easy, becoming progressively more difficult as you move towards challenge 30. Take advantage of your weapons secondary modes to set traps wherever possible (things like laptop sentries, though remember you can only have one sentry set at a time- throwing another sentry down will destroy the previous one) along with proximity mines and the Dragon’s secondary mine- you’ll particularly need this kind of backup on the later King of the Hill challenges. For some challenges you’ll have one or two sims on your team as backup- you can change their aggressiveness by holding down the change weapon button, then pressing twice while the centre option is selected. These sims are usually only useful for diverting fire from you.Using a character such as a Maian body with a human head can be helpful, as you can move faster. To do this, select the head you want, hold , then press down to switch to the body selection. Continue holding , releasing after you get the body you want (also works to get around the male/female restriction). Also, you don’t actually need to win the match to complete the challenge- forcing a draw will also count as complete. A guide for all 30 challenges can be found here. The challenges can be completed offline or online- however if playing challenges online, completion is only recorded for the host. Currently this achievement is consistantly popping up for people after obtaining any 29 stars (the stars represent the number of people the challenge was beaten with, eg 1 player gives the first star, 2 players gives the second star) and then reloading the game. It is unclear if the achievement is glitching or if the description is just misleading- either way this is a much easier method to unlock the achievement.

![]() A Friend Indeed - 10 ![]() Complete any mission in Co-operative Mode. Another simple one, completing any mission/difficulty in coop will do (a mission refers to the whole group, eg. 1.1/1.2/1.3 so doing a mission that only has one part such as 2.1 or 7.1 is much faster). Can be completed online or split screen local. It does not unlock if you use a simulant, regardless of how many missions you complete with them. ![]() ...Who Needs Enemies? - 10 ![]() Complete any mission in Counter-Operative Mode. Same as A Friend Indeed but in counter-op. The counter-op player can go around killing all the enemies to speed things along (using the suicide pill or shooting other enemies). This will only unlock if you complete all objectives in the mission, and if the player trying to complete the mission is killed by the counter-op player (or any other enemy) the achievement doesn't unlock for either player. ![]() dataDyne Specialist - 10 ![]() Kill at least one enemy with each of the dataDyne weapons. There are 8 dataDyne weapons you need: - DY357 Magnum: First obtainable on mission 1.3- take out the first 5 guards without being seen. The 5th guard drops one. Alternatively, the FBI guys wearing trenchcoats in mission 3.1 all carry DY357s (you want the guys that set off alarms, NOT the civilian guys that put their hands up when they see you with a gun) - CMP150: Can be found on the first guard you come across. - Dragon: First obtainable on mission 1.2 near the terminal you need to hack to proceed - K7 Avenger: Can be found in the firing range on mission 1.2 - SuperDragon: Can be found on a few enemies in mission 4.2 - Shotgun: Cassandra’s bodyguards in mission 1.3 all have shotguns - Devastator: Destroy the boxes on the helipad in mission 2.1 and you’ll find it inside one of the boxes. - Rocket Launcher: As you head to the roof in mission 1.3, you’ll find one on a pedestal with a guard and two scientists standing around it ![]() Carrington Institute Specialist - 10 ![]() Kill at least one enemy with each of the Carrington Institute weapons. There are 8 Carrington Institute weapons you need kills with: - Falcon 2: Starting weapon on mission 1.2 - Falcon 2 (Silencer): Starting weapon on mission 1.1 - Falcon 2 (Scope): Starting weapon on mission 1.3 - Laptop Gun: Can be found on mission 1.1 (in the secret area on Perfect- let the programmer roam out of sight and he’ll unlock the locked door near the elevators and stairs) but you also start with one on mission 2 (if playing on Perfect Agent) - AR34 Assault Rifle: You’ll start with this on mission 7.1 - Sniper Rifle: You’ll start with one on mission 2.1 (if playing on Agent or Special Agent, if playing on Perfect you find it in the shower off from the bedroom on the same mission) - Crossbow: You start with one on mission 5.1 (must use secondary mode for the kill to count) - Laser: You start with this on mission 7.1 ![]() Maian Specialist - 10 ![]() Kill at least one enemy with each of the Maian weapons. This one’s quick and easy since there’s only 3 Maian weapons in the game. Phoenix – There’s a technician standing near a robot interceptor on mission 4.1 (in the same area as the roller door elevators that you take to get into the base)- lure him away from the robot and punch him out before destroying the robot. Head upstairs in the first room of the next mission and turn to the left. If you kept the technician alive on the previous mission, he'll unlock the door for you after you try to open it (sometimes if you make enough noise a guard ends up opening the door, but the technician method is much faster)- head on through and eventually you’ll find a Phoenix. Alternatively, disarm Elvis on mission 8.1 Callisto NTG – Disarm one of the Maian soldiers in mission 8.1 to steal their gun. You also start with one on mission 9.1 Farsight XR-20 – Elvis hands you one in mission 6.2 ![]() Agent - 10 ![]() Complete the Solo Missions on Agent --see Perfect Agent-- ![]() Special Agent - 15 ![]() Complete the Solo Missions on Special Agent. --see Perfect Agent--

![]() Perfect Agent - 20 ![]() Complete the Solo Missions on Perfect Agent. For the 3 completion achievements, you need to complete all story missions (the 4 bonus missions listed under Special Assignments are not required). First up, this is not a run and gun game, and attempting to treat it as such for most parts of the game (particularly when playing on Special Agent or above) will likely just result in you dying repeatedly. You don’t have regenerating health or checkpoints like in most modern shooters, so you’ll instead need to use stealth wherever possible. Ducking out of cover to pick off guards then getting back behind cover is a good idea. On Perfect, enemies are much more accurate and inflict more damage (while being able to take more abuse) so getting repeatedly shot for a few seconds (or caught in explosions) will result in death. Pay attention to the sounds of gunfire- it's safest to pick off guards while they reload. However, to encourage stealth, all headshots on unshielded enemies are instant kills (keep this is mind for the combat simulator as well). Headshots through windows in doors work just as well. You can find shields on almost every mission on the first two difficulties- usually there’ll be two on Agent, one on Special, and these are always found in the same locations (you won’t find any shields while playing on Perfect). Try here for a Perfect Agent walkthrough if you need help for specific sections/missions. Speedrunwiki and speed run videos on youtube can also be helpful. Despite the game awarding all 3 stars for completing missions on Perfect, the difficulty achievements are not stackable- a full run through each difficulty is required to earn its respective achievement. ![]() Crowning Glory - 5 ![]() Earn all the Leaderboard Crowns. Crowns are essentially an extended achievement list, you need all 26 to unlock the achievement (the unlockable Avatar items, gamerpics, and theme are not required for the achievment). Check out Echtzeit's Crown Guide for more detail. This is easily the most difficult and time consuming achievement in the game, and requires full speed runs of all 3 difficulties among it's various requirements. You can check what crowns you have and what you still need by checking Awards under Help & Options in the pause menu. Avatar Awards: Perfect Aim- Kill any enemy with a headshot Self explanatory- shoot an unshielded enemy in the head and this will unlock. Top Secret- Complete a special assignment Complete one of the 4 bonus mission (The Duel, Mr Blonde's Revenge, Maian SOS, War) on any difficulty and this will unlock.

Also on Thursday there will be Perfect Dark avatar clothes available to buy. Free > £££ in my books, anyday! (Technically not free since you have to buy Perfect Dark... But you get my picture) I think the crows are such an awesome addition to the game, I don't see it being easy, but for Perfect Dark I will give it as much time and effort that it requires. |

added in some fixes. and tested out the old combat simulator exploit- for anyone that was wondering, it doesn't work any more since you don't even get an option to pick settings while picking a challenge.

right you are. for some reason you don't need to unlock them (despite needing to on the 64 version).

Not sure about the phoenix but the only DY357-LX in the game is owned by trent, you need to disarm him and take it.

The shield doesn't matter. Just run up to him and keep hitting him in the disarm function.

otherwise you can also find dual phoenixes on skedar ruins (use the devestator to destroy all the pillars that you don't use the target amplifiers on- the phoenixes are found near the chasm as you move through the level). try to run at him on an angle, it seems to work more consistantly that way.

nope, unlocked for me in a combat simulator match- i hid in one of the rooms on facility, all weapons as laptop guns, 4 fistsims on meat difficulty, first to 50 kills, and just kept throwing a new gun on the wall every time the old one ran out of ammo. had you shot any of the enemies yourself? it could be that the sentry has to do all the work itself for the kills to count.

that's weird, could be you can't use the sentry for double 64 then. i'll test it out on an alt account next time i'm on.

I'm gonna try using a different weapon second function and see if it will unlock then. The weird part about it is that I already had about 30 or so kills from secondary function while playing through the campaign, so it should have unlocked around 100 kills for me. The fact that I had unlimited time/kill limit on wouldn't affect the achievement would it?

yeah any secondary function should work, and the kill/time limits shouldn't make any difference (the achievement pops straight after the last kill, not at the end of the game).

just finished testing- laptop sentry kills don't count towards double 64 at all (128 kills using just the sentry did nothing. started up another game after with half the weapons as magsecs and first to 2 kills- first kill with the magsec sondary, second using a sentry, still nothing).
