Hard mode and Plasma Rifle ?

Ok so Im sitting pretty at 900gs for this game, IT SUCKS. By no means was it hard to get 900gs but the fact of doing it again kills me. I thought the fortified parts later in the game were tough and the stationary gun part with the 2 t-rex was semi tough. Ok the question is. Does the plasma rifle make things that easier during the fortified areas? Bc the one in lvl 13 seems like it will be a bitch on harder difficulty.

The plasma rifle drops most anything in 1 shot, green raptors take 2 shots and the ones that are twice the size of raptors take 5 shots with the plasma rifle. The rifle recharges ammo so that is quite useful. So far the fortified areas have been simple.

So far, because of the plasma rifle, I'm finding hard mode easier than normal mode.

When do you get the plasma rifle.
nevermind you get it on the first level.

I thought you started with it, but you have to pick it up.

You have to beat the game first and then replay it on hard mode in order to optain the plasma rifle. It automatically equips near the start of the game.

Actually the Plasma Rifle is lying next to the dead guy you walk up on (lying on the rocks on the first level). Pick it up and rock and roll!
