i think its still a pretty big deal. i mean, ive had this gamertag for 3 years now and im only at 25000+ gamerscore. granted, ive gotten the last 20000 or so within the last year, but i dont see myself hittin 100000 anytime soon. so props to all the people who have gotten to that point.
Well personally i feel lifeexpectancy set a new standard for 100k by getting there with 100% completion, i mean come on its impressive enough to get to 100k but to do it with 100% completion is a whole new level of dedication.
So 100000 gamerscore hasn't lost all of it's glory as long as you do it with a reasonable to high completion rate. After all we can all play loads of games for half points and get there fairly quickly.

I disagree. Getting to 100k with 100% completion is amazingly simple if you plan ahead. There are more than enough games available now so that you can just cherry pick the ones you KNOW you can max out. Whereas back in the day people had no idea that games like Chromehounds, Rumble Roses, GRAW etc would screw them over. Not saying you can't finish those games - but it would take an age.
His card has a few tough games on it, but nothing that can't be done fairly easily.
I have respect for the people who have gained a score of 100,000 plus, as its these people that have worked hard to achieve something they wanted to.... and anyone who achieves something they set out to do in the first place get's my seal of approval, I have only recently got my xbox so am fairly new to this whole scene, I was introduced to this site the same day I brought my xbox, and have found it useful for the things I have wanted to know, and hopefully I will achieve a score of 100,000 in the very far away future, but until then i will have to respect the people who have got there before me and made a milestone that many wish to achieve.
Well done guys and gals!!

Pretty interesting thread I don't nessecarily think breaking the 100k barrier lost its prestige, because more people are achieveing it does not mean its not an honor or self pride. Sooner or later 200k will probably be common and so on and so forth. More and more people on this site or hitting it yes, but there are so many people you see on ranked games that don't even have 10k.

Yeah okay i see your point that most of the games on his card are fairly easily achieved and that back in the day people didn't know so well which games would ruin that 100% completion. Although i do feel 100% completion and 100,000 gamerscore is more impressive then say hitting it with 60%, no matter what games have been played. Also i agree with you games like rumble roses and GRAW are hard to achieve 100% and in my opinion are what settles casual completionist's and the true completionist's now days.

So it's better to do everything based on a preset plan with guide help than playing anything you want for fun and accruing a large sum of points as a result? I disagree, especially considering a lot of the best games have silly MP achievements that require boosting (which I almost never do unless an actual friend wants to play and try for it), but ok.

No i am not saying not to play what you want for enjoyment, but do you not agree that anyone can just get 300-400 points on each game they play and amass a high score ? I mean come on i am actually in the process of trying to get 100K 100% on a new account and i have already put GOW2 on there but yes i will grind that level 100 out on it as i enjoy playing the game. I am also thinking about putting games like Star Ocean and Tales of Vesperia onto the Tag so that when i get to 100K i can sit back and say to myself okay i did play games that take effort and i did play games that i enjoyed.
Everyone is entitled to their own opinion and i see where all you guys are coming from but you are indeed missing the point of my messages, because i am the first person to look at someone's card with 100K and look threw the games to see whether or not they have actually put any effort into that score. (obviously yes this does take effort no matter what game you play, but i mean serious effort) After all we all know on this site that 100K is a fairly simple thing to achieve when we look at the "Quick 1000's Thread".
Overall my personal Thing when it comes to being impressed at someone with 100K is their completion and not just the number (although yes i admit the number is damn impressive) I do however see your point of view as well as jackanape's my views of 100K just seem to differ from yours a little bit. Anyway i didn't share my views on this to argue with people about it, if you don't like my view then it's not the end of the world as everyone has their own mind to think with. (no i am not trying to start a flame war)
I think it's still a pretty good achievement- as long as you get there with a decent completion percentage. With all the games available (and I don't know exactly how many there are) it's obviously not so great if you reach 100K and you've played 200 games. Other than that it's still pretty "cool"... The nerdy "cool"
100k GS takes so much time and effort, even with the easy games. Anyone who does that has truly accomplished something. The reason you see more people getting it is economical: older 360 titles are selling for less than $10 now. It doesn't make it less difficult or less impressive, just less expensive.
I've had a 360 for about a year and a half, and my goal is to eventually reach 100,000.
I don't care what other people think I'm going for 100k for myself and plan to have it by 2010.

i dont think it has, i have tried the easy route, still a long process. for some like stallion83 its about have A HIGH SCORE AND HIGH COMPLETION. PEOPLE LIKE ME TRY TO HAVE THE HIGHEST COMPLETION POSSIBLE AND WHEN I CAN GO NO FURTHER I MOVE ONTO ANOTHER GAME SO FOR ME IT WOULD BE AN AMAZING FEET TO HIT 100K. I WILL GET THERE JUST NOT FILLED WITH KIDS GAMES SO ITS GOING TO BE HARDER

I'm just over half way to 100k and thats in about 1 and a half years. So, 100k by 2011? I think not because I've played some easy games. What I try and focus on now, is completing games I have and raising my completion rate. Its hard when you rent games, so I just try to keep it above 50%, which I think I am doing atm. Once I reach 100k now, I'll know that most of that score was from playing games I enjoy and finishing most of them.
When I started out on my gamerscore, I was keen to get tons of points so I admit to getting some easy 1000/1000's (Fuzion Frenzy/Lego Games) although I have never bought a game which I wouldn't enjoy playing just for the sake of raising my gamerscore.
But now I see gamerscore more as a completionist's progression and not as a competition score.
I'm now focusing on keeping my completion % high as it's only at 60% at the moment and I'm approaching 35,000G. I've even put playing new games on hold for now just to focus on this. I must have about 5 or 6 unplayed new games right now. I'll be happy with 90%+ completion score.
When I reach 100K, I will see it as a personal achievement. No matter whether it is top 0.5% or maybe top 5% by the time I make it there, it will still feel like I've worked hard compared to the rest of the xbox360 population
There are approximately 3,350 accounts over 100k. I believe it's a lot easier to get to 100k than it was in the first year of the Xbox 360. There were less easy games back then, and less games total. Nowadays you can pick the easiest games and make your way to 100k in 9 months, back then that wasn't an option.
Amen. I remember back in the day I'd have to play any game to get where I wanted. A 30 hour game would basically become a quick game for most people. It isn't like that anymore as there are a ton of easy under 5 hour games now, 5-10s, etc.
I mean, for my new account, it wasn't hard at all to get to 50k+. Majority of my card is filled with some easy games.
I don't feel that 100,000 Gamerscore has lost its significance. For a start, there are very, very few people who have reached that amount (when you compare the amount of them with people who have Xbox LIVE). There are even less people when you consider the cheaters being removed.
100,000 legit is an incredible feat, so I give my respect to anyone who reaches the 'Magic Number'.
For me, 100k is the ultimate goal. I'm a completionist aswell so having a high % is really one thing I pride myself on. I screwed myself over playing a few games that I couldn't finish(GRAW, DoA4, etc.), but when I reach 100k with a percentage of around 96-98%, in my eyes it will be a great accomplishment whether other people think it is or not.
I personally think 100k is quite a feat. I've had my gamercard for over 3 1/2 years now and I'm not at 80k yet. I admit to picking up some quick games for points like Avatar and Fusion Frenzy 2, but 95%of my games are ones I, or my wife, enjoy playing together. If I play a game I can't stand(like Alone in the Dark), I'll take the 40 points for the crap game and move on to one I enjoy. And every other game I play in GOW2, there is someone saying, "Holy Crap Dustinator!! Hey guys, look at Dustinator's gamerscore!!"
I can't wait to get to 100k. Cause I'm playing the games I love and I don't have too much money to spend on games nowadays(or time for that matter). But I will be very happy with myself to get to 100k. Before I found this site a few months ago, the past 3 years I'd seen only a few people on Live with 100k+. Yeah, 100k is still an accomplishment

Getting over 50.000G is impressive if you ask me. I know how it is, to sit a tuesday night, playing some dumb game, you hate, just to boost the last points out of it. Its hard work, to reach, a high gamerscore. I think its nice that people show dedication to gamerpoints, and keeps boosting their score, to insane heights. I like following some people on my friendlist earning points and see their progress. (patches4711, jimmyhova etc. etc.)
Myself, well i stopped playing the really shitty games, when i hit the 100k, but i still love achievements, and try's to get them in harder games. Im not proud of, hitting 100.000G, but its a lot of fun, even tough it sometimes gives me too much attention online.

I agree with CaptainKicker. When I reached 100K it was like a monkey off my back, now I feel I can be more selective about games and just enjoy the good ones (even though I still have a heap of crappy "achievement games" I have yet to play). I still make the efforts to maximize each game, but the games are so much better now lol.
The only thing I am missing is some kind of acknowledgement from Microsoft. Players who reach 100K do show a certain kind of devotion that I wish MS would reward in some way.
To answer the original post: No, I think six digits still has it's luster
The leaderboards at mgc.net were not operational when I reached 100K, but I have calculated that I was the seventh or eighth Norwegian to reach the milestone, and that makes me kinda proud. Other Norwegians have passed me since then, as I don't chase achievements the same way anymore, but it's nice to know I was there early on.
Even though plenty of people have 100K now, I think it is still a huge accomplishment. I can't wait for the day that I can say I'm part of the 6 digit gamerscore club. Only 48,000 to go
what happend to the days of just playing a game and feeling proud as fk to just finish the game? these days its all about some magical number.personally i could'nt give a monkeys fart what my score is aslong as i enjoyed playing the game.non of the scorewhore disney games on my gamercard thankyou.BUT each to there own and many gratz to those who stick at the harder games to get the sometimes silly chevos.
I know hitting 100k is a amazing accomplishment. As i suppose it depends on the games you play! For one i dont play games i dont like and kids games are a real no no. I have friends who got there console shortly after me and only have few thousand gamerscore in a few years!! right now i am at 86,661 and it does look nice! i know i aint going to break any leaderboards but i do feel kinda good about it!
100k is a great accomplishment, But now days I think 200k is the new 100k. With more and more people getting 100k its pretty common! But you have got to think we are all members of an achievement site so of course most members are going to have a larger gamer score!
I played some #MW2 the other day and people were like OMG that is a huge gamer score, and I was thinking to myself not as big as some of my friends scores! It might not look so big to us cause we are all about it. but for someone who isn't its still a jaw dropper!

I couldn't agree more. To me, my 100k is not such a big GS as most of my friends, but any online game I play people are always like "Holy Crap!, That must be glitched!" But like Cru said, to us it just seems somewhat average becasue we belong to an achievement site.
