The OP should be able to lock and/or close his own thread. If they do lock and close it would be permanent as to avoid screwing members of x360a around. I believe this should clear up requests by OPs for MODS to close their threads. Although a request for a MOD by the OP to close and/or lock does not happen on a regular basis, I'm sure it will satisfy a lot of members.

I disagree. Moderator powers should stay with the mods and up. There's no real reason that people have to lock down their own threads. If someone else is acting outside the rules of the site on the thread for any reason, we have mods to handle those individuals. If the question for the thread has been answered, that doesn't mean that someone else won't have something else useful to post in the thread either. I just can't see any legitimate scenario that warrants this I guess.

Do see this benefits, but won't happen. Some people will post threads and lock them straight away so no-one else can reply to it etc. Also, as Method said, the Mods will most likely take care of all that business while us users post the night away.

To quote Minty and his famous saying, well to me anyhow "report the post for sticky, lock or any other activity" then all staff members will be sent an email and it will be dealt with soon enough.

Having everyone able to lock their threads though would just turn into a mass mess of locked posts. It would be abused more than you think.

I can only see one case-type where it'd be useful. If it's a question asking a straightforward question then a closure can prevent spamming/necro-ing once the question has been properly answered. For example, I answered some guy's questions in another thread the other day, and it was closed right after he made another post saying thanks. Cases like those it makes sense, but overall not so much

Could limit it to one lock a day at least. It's not like people spam threads that need to be locked in the first place. After all, it could be helpful every once in a while.
