BioShock Could Become a Video Game Hexology

In an exclusive interview with MCV, Global President of 2K Christoph Hartmann said that Bioshock has the potential to emulate the Star Wars series and thus become a video game hexology (a series of six creative works)

"For Bioshock, because it’s so story driven, the question obviously arises: how long can you do it without turning into The Matrix? The first Matrix was great, the second one was weird and the third one, you thought: ‘Who [making this] is on crack and who isn’t?’. “But, then again, look at Star Wars. It’s a fight between good and evil, just like Bioshock. If we spin it the right way and get the right twist of innovation, we can make six parts of it, as Star Wars did."

"But we have to be careful not to cash in. I won’t name the company, but there was a great racing game years ago. They brought it back year-on-year. If you look at the scores, it’s hard to believe what they’ve done to it. It’s upsetting, actually."

That would be awsome to have 6 Bioshocks.

The call of duty series is pretty good and strong at 6 [coming in November]. Even the return of WW2 by Treyarch wasn't that bad. I still find it as a great game

How the hell would they pull off 6? Really, I beat the game, fought Ryan, I don't see how they could make six of them. (Not that I would mind but it all better be relevant some how)

Also, I'm not a big fan of racing, what game was being mentioned?

You never know they could always make prequels to the story. Such as the events that led up to Bioshock 1. You could even play as Atlas before he became evil.

Atlas was always evil, in fact Atlas is just a pseudonym for Frank Fontaine. So playing as Frank Fontaine which would be kind of awesome would also put you in the role of the bad guy.

One thing I was glad to hear him say was that they weren't going to cash in on it. It's good to hear that as it would be such an injustice to a game like Bioshock to crap out storylines, to milk the proverbial game udder of all the milk left in the teet of Adam.

e.g. playing the storyline leading up to Bioshock 1

Bioshock 1 took place underwater during the 50s, so we could see a new rapture be built in the future, or maybe there already is another one.
Usually when somthing fails, it is always tried at least once more to see if you can make it succesful. So 6 bioshocks is possible.

I think it's to soon for me to get excited about 6 Bioshocks, don't get me wrong Bioshock is my all time favourite game ever created by a long stretch but with that being said it makes me fear that the series could lose excitement. I have no clue where they're going with Bioshock 2 yet. I'm hearing it's ten years after the first game and then I hear it's a prequel lol. if they do 6 Bioshock games they could end up like Star Wars saga, 3 really good ones and then the next three were massively hyped but lacked something. Let's get Bioshock 2 first before we start getting excited about Bioshock 6

They could do it in a way it's just like Star Wars, I mean, if you compare Bioshock 1 to Episode IV, and Bioshock 2 to Episode V, they could make one more sequel and then 3 prequels, which'd be cool as it'd mix it up.

There is a lot they can do with story etc. I just think the games might become too similar, or change so much that they loose there focus. It's a thin line, I'm sure it can be done, but lets get number 2 out and immerse ourselves in that.

I doubt that they can make six part with decent story line; sooner or later the consistency will be damaged. Of course the innovative, unique atmosphere need a lot of change/addition to remain interesting.

I'd like to not doubt what they are capable of and could pull of. I don't see 6 Bioshock games as an impossible feat. As a matter of fact... I can't really think of a lot of other games who would have a chance at getting a 6th title. It has a really great story. I'm just excited to see what direction they are taking all of us gamers in Bioshock 2.

Well i think we need to to take it year by year or bi yearly and see what the second Bioshock has to offer you know it may sucks big balls (lets pray not cause its my favorite game) But you never know what they are gonna do with this ending! I mean really i would love to have 6 bioshocks but a game THIS good takes time and thought and maybe it would be better to stop at 2 or 3 but who knows. Well have to see how this game turns out!

I'm pretty sure the racing game would be Grand turimso.. that game is epic too! that is the only reason i bought my PS3 is for that game and it hasn't even come out yet! but when it does my xbox is gonna be lonely

would that be a technical first, im trying to think of games that truely have more than 5 different and yet same story based line of events or whatever, idk im not sure i would count FF, it seams like they always drascitly change the plot, not only with different character, but just about eveything else... uhm dinasty warriors is just the same al around, i mean yeah different history and all that, but if you say they arnt the same game your lying to yourself... but yeah, could be cool, just hope they dont finish the first three, and then wait 20 years and make some pieces of shit... sorry star wars... ha ha nah ep 1-3 arnt that bad, but 4-6 are just so much more bad ass... im going to stop typing now

6 would be sweet and I could have sworn I heard somewhere that there where other underwater/ground cities that Ryan built (maybe somewhere in the first game?) and those could be used for another part of the story which would be sick. I wonder if in the multiplayer if you can play as the hunter-esque splicers with the twin meat hooks ( the first one you see when you get to rapture) =D
