The campaign can be played coop, but most of the achievements can't be earned in co-op campaign.

These are the only achievements you can earn in co-op campaign:
Well Defended10 Accumulate three simultaneous fish shields
Barracuda Bully25 Score a 'Barracuda Bonus' by biting a barracuda's tail four times in a row
School Teacher20 Eat 500 entire schools of fish, or swarms of bugs
Flippin' Good Time15 Complete a Quadruple Flip
Well Fed Fish25 Accumulate 5000 fish in your food bank

To be honest, these achievements would be earned in due time just playing single player campaign to earn the others.

Local coop and solo shares the same saving spots. You can clear it coop amd last stage solo.
