The Mile High guide/Discussion

1) The AI squad cannot be killed. As you move up, they will finish off stragglers. Don't waste time killing everyone.
2) You must use flash bangs.
3) Switch to your pistol. You can reload your primary weapon as you advance or recover health.
4) Practice on regular or recruit to get a idea of how many enemies there are and when and where they spawn

You can choose to knife the guy in the bathroom if you wish but half the time he will either kill you or cause enough damage so that one bullet will. Take the left passage way. Gun down the guy in the doorway and toss a flash all the way into the T-shaped hall in front of you. The four or five incoming enemies will get flashed along with the two camping the doorway. I decided to run into the next room and let the rest of the team kill the incapacitated enemies. On the right you should see a seat and part of the wall to hide behind. Move up when you can and prone in between seats. This will trigger more enemies to run down the stairs but the friendly AI should kill them.

Take the left stair case up and move into the next room and hide behind the seats. Peak out the left side and shoot up the wall. There's two guys behind it: one on the left and one on the right. Run into next room, toss a flash down the hall. Peak down the hall and kill all that you can but don't risk dying. Toss your last flash in the same place and re-load. The friendly AI can kill these guys so just kill the ones that aren't blind.

As you approach the last set of doors, the game will go slow-mo and the last enemy will have taken an innocent as a human shield. Don't shoot his leg. You have to score a head shot. He will shift to the left and this is probably the best time to kill him.

This level is very much about luck but it does require a lot of skill and with the right plan you can do it. It got VERY frustrating, but once I had the right plan of attack it seems a lot easier. I can honestly say that I'm probably never playing this level again. Ever.

I've searched and I haven't seen it posted anywhere. But a good way to get past the first section is to knife the guy in the bathroom but make your way into the bathroom and turn around. Let your teammate go forward first and kill the guy in the doorway on the left hand side. This makes it easy to throw a flashbang into the first room filled with enemies. After 4 and a half hours of unsuccesfully trying with the video guides I figured this method out and I was able to have many more opportunities to get to the top half. After I started going into the bathroom it only took me 10 tries to get it.

WOOHOOO after countless hours at this, I finally made it all the way through and can now cry into my pillow.

Looking back, I made some interesting observations. It isn't that this level is difficult because if you break it down it is actually quite easy when you compare it to other levels on vet. The biggest problem with it is that you have to get your timing exact and thats why so many people say it is down to luck.

If you move slightly in the wrong direction, you get caught out. If you don't aim your flashbangs exactly you will miss someone out or blind yourself. If you run into something you just stop when you are trying to sprint. If you don't move quick enough you run out of time. Not once has anybody mentioned that the AI is too hard to get past which is why if you get your timing right you will wonder why you couldn't do that before.

I rarely had a problem getting to the back stairs, I used to have around 30-35 seconds left when I got there so I had plenty of time. My downfall was always the final corridor. I would throw my flashbang and run then run into a blinded enemy. By the time I shot him, everybody would recover and I would be killed or I would take them out and run out of bullets on the last couple of guys. Only once previous did I make it to the hostage and I ended up shooting him instead.

This time around, and it may help others who are stuck at the same point. After taking down the enemy in the first upstairs compartment I ran into the open area. The vids I have seen, people throw a flashbang straight out and run but I didn't. I took out as many of the guys as I could from a single magazine (it left 2 or 3 still standing). I then loaded my weapon and threw in the flashbang. There was nobody to get in my way and I had a ful magazine for when the last guys came around the corner. Dropped them all with a full magazine and ran. Made it to the door with 4 seconds to spare.

My heart stopped with the headshot because I saw the blood but both terrorist and hostage were still standing. I would have cried if the hostage fell but when he ran off I wasted no time, as soon as the doors were breached I was the first one out of the plane and hello achievement. Finally, after countless hours I can finally rest.

OH....MY....GOD!!

I done all of it, got to the hostage bit, my battery in controller went..

Turnt it back on went green then flashed 3 times went to Player 1 for a mili sec then turnt off, time up, i lose. I could have cryed lol GRRR

better vid and at the beginning you don't have to use the pistol. Also I prefer throwing flashbang going left stairs then going right up shooting them. But combining my tactic and that video is a 5 minutes job to get to the VIP. And finally I shot the right guy:P CoD 4 1000/1000

This definately was one of the toughest acheivements I have ever had to get and it took me a long time to get it. After getting it the first tiem though... now I have done it 5 times and find it alot easier than I originally thought it was.
