Black Throne East (1st) Tower missing chest

So apparently as I was going through the game I missed a chest close to the top of the first tower (the east one) and I can't seem to reach it any more. Seems to be a gate that closed as I went on up to fight the tower guardian. Is there not way for me to get that chest? I'll try to get a screenshot for you.
