If I want to play this game, do I need some special software to run it? Also, where can I buy it? Can I run in on a mac or do I need a windows computer?

Yeah you would need a Windows Vista or Seven computer unless you use bootcamp for macs, that should work. So no, all you need is a decent graphics card and whatever the specifications are for the game.
