Golden Levers?

I have spent the past two days searching these forums and the wiki forums for information regarding the four golden levers placed around Broken Valley but have not found anything. When I pull one my character is enveloped with light, but other than that nothing seems to happen. Can someone tell me the purpose of these levers?

After pulling the four levers their is a cutscene that shows a chest which apparently appears somwhere near "New Miners Dig". Once im home from work I will attempt this.
