Thoughts about the DLC - Positive or Negative
I was thoroughly disappointed with the DLC. It took entirely too much from the main story (you will know what I mean when you play it as to not spoil anything) and it was way too short. I was anticipating the arrival the moment that it was announced. Yet I felt like Santa Claus let me down when I got up on Christmas morning and didn't get the present I wanted...

When you consider that people get charged 800 - 1400 points for map packs, I think I'm fine paying 560. Sure it would've been a 'sweet deal' at 400 points, but that can be said about a lot of DLC on XBLA; a tad overpriced, but still worth the play.
Comparing this to other 560 point DLC (Mass Effect 2, Alan Wake come to mind), I would say I got as much enjoyment out of this DLC as I did any of those, and they seemed about as long. Not that it was the best of those three, not by a long shot, but still fun to play and more DS2 achievements. |

I agree that the price point of the DLC made me not hate it. Yes it was a little short, but it got me to come back and play the game again. Overall I rated it "neutral - not bad"

Not bad. They reused to much, though.

What a complete letdown. It took me longer to download the dlc than it did to finish it. Nothing new, they just rehashed the same areas in reverse order. Come on really? Using the exact same upside down hanging thing.
Didn't care at all about the characters. This should have been included from the games release and then spent this time making a longer more varied dlc.

I gave it 4 stars, i think the people complaining are too fussy. Christmas and birthdays must be rubbish for you guys. "you bought me what!?"
![]() I especially liked the end. Isaac is the only badass who can escape relatively unscathed. I do think they should have you play as a girl in the next one (if there's more dlc). Seems a bit sexist the way it's always a bloke saving the day. |

DLC Severed is quite good for me. I gave 4/5 because:
1. Price (560 MS, I thought it will be more) 2. New story - I have Wii game Extraction, but I played only 2 levels. Now I take a look more on that game. Good moments like ending or attack of space shuttle were really good ideas. 3. New suits and upgraded weapons - Patrol suits transeable to DS2 main story with patrol seeker rifle. I like the new suits with ,,one eye,,. 4. Action and timeplay - if there were 4 or more chapters I would give a 5/5 but nevermind. One hour and count of enemies...,OK for that price. No new areas. Sure maybe a hallway here and there. Hard to explain without giving away spoilers but alot of Severed takes from "been here before" kind of thing.
Also, I was hoping to see more of Lexine, maybe even play as her. The 2 Chapters end way too fast with the "of course" cliffhanger. Tip: If you have the Foam Finger Gun, refrain from using it right away if you want to enjoy this DLC. |

I thought it was a waste of time. I wanted to know what happened to the main character in Dead Space: Extraction (the guy who had to cut his own arm off to escape) but instead you play as Lex's husband (which I didn't even know she had). I thought this dlc was supposed to expand on Dead Space: Extraction but it just left with more questions.

Don't you think mcneil could have been mentioned at least? I mean that guy went through alot and managed to survive after all. Maybe I wouldn't think so poorly of the dlc if they just put completely random/new characters as the stars. Issac is the main character of Dead Space, but don't state the dlc will follow up Extraction when the main character isn't even mentioned.

didn't like the dlc at all, way too short, and the story was garbage. I felt like i completely wasted my time and money and that really annoys me cause i absolutely love dead space and dead space 2. I didn't mind going through the same areas so much i just wish they woulda opened up a few more doors

I'd say if you like Dead Space 2 get it, I personally thought it was pretty good.

I thought it was fantastic.
I don't mind re-using areas, as it worked with the story. Ending was great, and overall, I enjoyed the DLC quite a bit. The only problem was the length (took about 40-45 minutes to beat.). I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Yeah, I wasn't a fan of how much they re-used from the main game, and my two quick playthroughs combined to mop up the achievements only took me a little over an hour.
Granted, second time I basically ran through and used the foam gun, but still... |

I quite enjoyed it, the story was interesting even though it was a little short and the ending was great IMO.

For what it is/was I though is was good. By no means was it great but it was good.
Am I the only one whom had problems shooting targets? I mean, clearly putting the laser on target at point blank range (or a distance) and shooting to have it not hit the Necro in front of you? It really got on my nerves. Especially when going through it on Zealot, as it got my killed a number of times. |

i gave it a 4 out of 5, it was good for what it was. price was right, i did like the fact that you got to see the area's before and after Isaac went threw there like some area's are not destroyed yet, and then when you get to medical you can see some searious damage there.
Only real big complaint I had is what I hear most people say, lack of a new game plus. Also putting that "new" enemy in there which is just one from the first game that they didn't put in the 2nds main story was kinda a let down I was hope for something better, but not putting the Ubermorph in it was very good. |

★★★★ for me. I thought it was a very well written piece of DLC and felt like I could connect with Gabe just as I can with Isaac. Sure, it was a little short, and I felt like an idiot spending ten minutes looking for that darn power cell right at the end. I found that going through the hospital and seeing the remains of Isaac's actions was very good; especially walking past the tripod at the start of the second chapter. The ending was very emotional and overall a very good, but short DLC.

I actually liked it. Ive always like games like this and the older Resident Evils where another character revisits areas where the main character has been and you see what affects on the environment have or have not happened within the story. For instance, while playing as Gabe you revisit the hospital and pass the room where Issac Clarke first gets the plasma cutter and you see the guy who got gutted crawling and dying. Awesome.

Personally I loved this DLC, but that might just be because of how many underdeveloped ones I've been seeing lately. It was as long as I expected it to be but no where near as good. In term of all the sequences, they just felt as well put together and as detailed as the one's in the actual game. Such as

I thought it was good,i liked the way you play in the opposite direction to isaac. Its a decent length for DLC and the price. The only thing that i can find fault with is that i didn't know the characters as i've never played 'extraction'. How come it was never released on the 360?

Pretty meh. Got all but one achievement on the first playthrough and didn't feel the need to play it more after getting it.

4* - It was pretty good.
Had the same creepy atmosphere & tough dialogs as in the retail game. Worth playing it. Only two negative points: - you play a guy AGAIN instead of a female character - level/enemy recycling instead of showing something new Maybe they gonna change it in the next DLC, if there will be any... |

I thought it was pretty good, it was nice to see Gabe and Lexine again. It was interesting to see they got married, since they didn't seem to like each other in Extraction.
Though a lot can change in three years. As for Mcneil, pretty sure he was the Necromorph in the ending scene to Extraction. So we can assume he's dead. What I wanna know about are those guys in white, who seemed to have magic or psychic powers. There was nothing like that in the main two games. Last edited by Earthbound_X; 10-08-2011 at 07:56 AM. |
