Weapon upgrade confusion

I was wondering how the weapon upgrades all work.

I recently upgraded the first handgun (m92f) quite a bit. Now i have the option of buying the second handgun (h&k p8) from the store. Do i stop upgrading the first now that i can purchase the second? Did i waste my money upgrading the first one to begin with? Or do i need to upgrade ALL levels of each weapon? Im kind of confused here. Any help is appreciated. Thx!

some guns are only available by fully upgrading another gun. as for upgrading another gun. try to stick to upgrading the guns you'll want for your vet / pro runthrough.

Okay. No offense but that didnt really help.

Im trying to figure out if i need to upgrade ALL 4 versions of the pistol, or do i just need to fully upgrade the last version of the pistol to get credit for that weapon. Same thing goes for the shotgun and all the others. I hope my question makes sense.

In terms of getting the "Take it to the Max" achievement, you're going to have to upgrade every single gun completely. So for handguns, that means upgrading all 3 (and eventually 4) handguns in every category. Upgrades don't carry over, so maxing out the last handgun's power will do nothing to the previous ones.

Additionally, when you update certain weapons - for handguns, the M92F - you will unlock a special weapon not obtainable other wise, for handguns it's the M93R, a handgun with three round burst fire.

Achievements aside though, if you want my advise, upgrade whatever you feel comfortable with. Personally, I use the SIG P226 (the third you'll come across). It carries the most firepower out of all three handguns at 480. However, there's a drawback to it as it lacks the piercing and critical perks that the other two handguns have.

To put it simply, the P226 will carry the most firepower, but has the smallest clip (16 bullets) and no additional perks.

The H&K (second handgun) has a pretty good clip size (25) decent damage (300) reloads the fastest (0.85) and can pierce through multiple enemies. It's a jack-of-all-trades, really.

And finally, the M92F has, by far, the largest clip size (100... go figure huh?), reloads at a good speed (1.36) and is a beast at taking heads off. However, it's a gun that you should always aim at the head with, since it has the lowest firepower (250).

There's a bit to read there, but I hope it helps. I can't stand when people type up half-assed barely coherent instructions.

In short for me,
I would simply stay with a set of guns and upgrade those, At the end of the day there isn't a huge difference in power and most of the guns come down to the pierceing power or % critical, So again stay with a set gun till the end of the game,

For amateur ,if your on that difficulty, these guns will be fine - M93f, S75, Ithaca / M3, MP5 / Ak-47, M37 / L.Hawk,
The guns in red aren't needed but help on certain mini/bosses like the Chainsaw Majini etc but they aren't a nessecity.
Just upgrade the first of each weapon and those will see you through the end of the game.

On your second run through you can get unlimited ammo, so your money can be spent on the power upgrade only,
Also selling treasure can get you a lot of money if needed, especially repeating certain levels.

Finally, if your having real money troubles, repeat easy levels for treasure/gold or do the rotten egg trick.

Ok, i just realised what your post was about :P, like it was said before you must have every gun in your inventory fully upgraded for Taking it to the Max, so the above you can forget about if you wish too.
