wariowarrior
Comes out in the US tomorrow and still no reviews anywhere. Usually not a good sign but I thought the demo was pretty good. Any of you guys seen any reviews that Metacritic haven't picked up yet?
Hurricane Of 87
Probably just an embargo on the release of the reviews which is VERY common. Halo 4 and Tomb Raider are the only recent (last 12 months) games I can think of that had reviews out over a week before the release of the game. Now when a game doesn't even send out review copies (Fast & Furious Showdown, Walking Dead Survival Instincts, Star Trek) THAT'S a big warning sign. I'm not expecting a lot of reviews for this game anyway. It's flying well under the radar (GRID 2 was #2 in the pre-order chart, Fuse was closer to #20 when I ordered it) so most sites probably haven't even asked for a review copy. The general feeling in the air seems to be that this game was written off before people even played it; EA? Boooooo! Insomniac developing cross-platform? Traitors! Looks terrible Looked better when it was Overstrike (Please link me to that Overstrike gameplay vid you saw....oh wait, it doesn't exist) Comments that just say "Generic", along with hundreds of others, making that complain generic in itself Reminds me of Borderlands! (Compare with above complaint *head explodes*) Another Third Person Shooter (As a fan of the genre, I'd say it's done enough to distinguish itself from the rest of the pack) Then you've got those who've played the demo for "15 minutes" or less. They've played a game with 4 unique (from each other) characters through once...yeah. I'm sure they really got to grips with it. Just annoyed. It seems people aren't even giving this a fair chance. Probably expect it to land in the 60-75 range on Metacritic. The dreaded yellow region.
WORLDEATER
Forza Horizon reviews were out a week prior to release as well. The demo to this game was fun but the game seems dates. I like the progression system with the characters.
Sarcastro
I think Hurricane of 87 said it best. While I don't believe all of the criticism was unjust, most of the reasoning was dumb. It hasn't helped that EA hasn't put any marketing behind it, likely to do with the fact that Insomniac retained the rights to their IP. I'm waiting for some reviews, or other gamer's impressions. I want a fun co-op experience, and this looks to hit the spot.

Maka
Embargoes are usually set 1 day before release, up to the actual launch date. There are a decent amount of copies out there, probably 300+, so whenever they are allowed to put up reviews, you'll see them.
TheBajan
Metacritic has one review up for the PS3 version. It got 5...out of 10. Anyway EA published this game, expect the reviews to be up later today(Tuesday where I am).
WORLDEATER
Resistance 3 was fun but didn't get great reviews and I expect the same for this Insomniac release. Reviews really don't mean much to me. I usually watch gameplay or demo it myself
iBuzz7S
Getting more average scores than anything. http://www.vg247.com/2013/05/28/fuse-reviews-are-go-get-all-the-scores-here/
General Boredom
Back when the reveal trailer came out (when it was known as Overstrike) the game looked to at least have some personality. Playing the demo left me with the feeling that EA suits focus tested the game to death, resulting in the name change and the generic, by the numbers cover based shooter we ended up with. Insomniac is an incredibly talented team, but this stinks of another EA product aimed to appeal to the lowest common denominator.

Ryuukishi
Looked better when it was Overstrike (Please link me to that Overstrike gameplay vid you saw....oh wait, it doesn't exist) This... All Overstrike ever was was a teaser trailer with zero gameplay. No one outside Insomniac knows how the game would have been different if it was released as Overstrike instead of as Fuse. For all we know it would have been exactly the same except for the character design.
Opiate42
R3 went into some good (read: blunt) detail about how it's so average. EA as usual, likely played it safe-by-focus-group. Leading to a pretty cookie cutter game. http://revision3.com/rev3gamesreviews/fuse-review
Hurricane Of 87
See, now there's a fair review^^^ I'm just a little annoyed to see how it's being brushed off or shat on undeservedly, being used as a scapegoat for how us tr00 gamers are ever so tired of EA/Shooters/Multiplayer/Snowy levels/Crossbows/Whatever and how it's poor sales are a vindication of such nonsense. If it was because people hated shooters AND EA AND Multiplayer then why has The Devil's Cartel been stinking up the UK Top 20 for multiple consecutive weeks? For example here's an excerpt of a one star-review for Fuse on the PS3 from Amazon: "We're in third-person co-op shooter territory. Press a button to snap to cover. Pop out with the left trigger, shoot at the faceless bad guys with the right. Repeat until the game runs out of enemies, then trawl the area for the handful of trinkets that are inevitably hiding in the corners. Bonus XP. In-game currency. Text and audio logs. You know the drill. You've done this dozens of times before. Worst game this year ." Fulfilling ALL criteria, that description could easily be for Dead Space 3, all 4 Gears games, The Uncharted Trilogy and even Max Payne 3. Loosen it up a bit and you could add Dead Space 1 & 2, Splinter Cell, Army Of Two, 40th Day, The Devil's Cartel, Mass Effect 1, 2 & 3. Sure it's a tried and tested formula but that alone doesn't explicitly make it a terrible thing. To describe it as simply 'Functional' is understating the game a fair bit. It's ironed out the numerous sticking points of previous TPSs. You can look around without having to turn your character in that direction (ME3), there's an aim assist for the grenades and med beacons that just know where I want them to be thrown 98% of the time, turning corners whilst in cover has never been this easy (Looking at you ME3 and UC3). Having Vault and run on the same button keep it fast paced and having the cover on a separate button prevents any awkward fuckups. Ledge climbing and shooting from them adds a neat aspect only really seen in the Uncharted games. Haven't seen any moments in my 47 hours of game time where I thought 'Wish it played more like (any of the above titles)'. I feel like 'streamlined' would be a good word for the game. Even if there's only 6 side weapons it's enough. They're all different. It's nice that CoD or Max Payne 3 offer multiple different Assault Rifles but they all tend to blend together at some point. It doesn't over complicate itself with crafting or different ammos or grenade types. Everything in the game is rather direct and to the point. TANGENT ALERT: This doesn't seem to be a really popular thing at the moment though, linearity. Max Payne seems to piss some people off when a game 'From the makers of Grand Theft Auto and Red Dead Redemption' wasn't open world. More recently Remember Me had it's 'lack of exploration' highlighted as a sour-point and that the lack of exploration in such a rich vibrant world was a travesty, etc, etc. Rating the game down for not being something else. On the flipside you've got reviews making excuses for State Of Decay's in your face shittiness because it's large and you can explore. Y'know if you can 'forgive' or 'look past' it's obvious graphical flaws. On CryEngine3. It seems devs have heard these rumblings and there's a slate of Open World titles headed this way for the next-gen. RETURNING: Fuse does have some poor aspects that even I can admit. The story is poor. Even Dalton guesses that Fable's in on it at the end of chapter 1. It's pretty much a typical Tom Clancy affair of neutralizing those terrorists with them deadly chemicals. Dalton and Naya are clearly the important 2 of the team, Jacob and Izzy feel like they're just tagging along. I was surprised that they knew each other immediately at the beginning and nothing much was hinted at to their past AS A TEAM. There were bits about stuff before that (Diplomats in Bali, The Black Key Hotel, Naya's first contract on her birthday, car bombings, etc.) Given that Fuse was alien tech I was kind of expecting aliens to show up in some form. Especially given the campaign climaxes in space. Missed a trick there I feel. Meilin's dialogue is particularly trite, right out of the bad guy playbook. "You never give up do you? You're not walking away from this!!" "...now drop the hardware." The boss battles are rather uninspired with the Glowing Orange Weakpoint cliche out in full force. Fable is just terrible and a joke compared to everything before him. A glorified Enforcer with no distracting Spec Ops or Infiltrators or Mechs or Swarmers? NONE? Really? The BGM is essentially aural wallpaper. The rest of the sound design is great though. You can tell all the guns apart so you know who's firing and if they're firing at something metallic or what enemies you've got coming around a corner or who's gone down or low on ammo, etc. Seriously, I'd go as high as an 8/10 and I don't mean 'average' when I use those numbers. Clearly I'm not one to value story too highly, focus here is on the action which, outside of boss fights, was consistently great. I don't understand the hate. ajennice
It's fun. The campaign isn't the longest but I enjoyed the action. It's your basic 45 rounds to kill an enemy kind of shooter. The MP is pretty good as well. if you're on a good team , you should max out he levels pretty easily. If you're playing for cheeves, you're in for a grind tho. Leveling each up to max AND buying/max-ing all 16 perks will be a hassle. You'll get burned out before you near all of those. So far my only complaints are the reaction time the AI takes to revive you, the AI ineffectiveness in battle, and the lack of skipping some cut scenes after the 1st play through. 40-50$ game in my opinion. not a good 59$ title. I'll put it down once I get the last 2 members maxxed out.
belatedpanther2
This is another one of those games that gets bad reviews but actually is a very good game. I don't get these reviewers. This game is worth every penny!
