I had the same problem but with the 10 banners, "friend".
I had just started new, getting all the way up to castle so I could have the advanced banner blah blah blah.
Anyway just got 10 unique banners from anyone and everyone and I didn't unlock after the initial generic avatar gibberish saying achievement failed.
Robbed & really pissed off, 190/200 achi
