My thoughts
I enjoyed both of these games greatly. I thought that Fable 3 played a little bit more fluidly than Fable 2, but at the expense of some of the story elements. I'd recommend playing both eventually...

Much more belated thank you! I play quite a few single player games. I especially enjoy games that make me think my way out of a problem in new ways. Portal and Portal 2 were exceptional in that way....
