What do you all think?

I'm looking at this one, but I'm not sure if I'm gonna get it or not. I was wondering of those who bought it, what do you think about it?

tattooed si 10-16-2008 08:03 AM

I really like it ARRRRRRR lol :)

Mecandes 10-16-2008 05:17 PM

It's a great family game; the gameplay is simple enough for children to grasp... and yet depending on what team/scenario you are up against, it can be very challenging too.

I'm not sure how much fun you'd have with this game solo -- and always hard to tell how long a game like this will be actively played on Xbox Live, eh? -- but if you have family members to play with/against, it's a blast.

P.S. Most of the achievements are simple, except perhaps for the one which requires you to beat all of the hard scenarios, "Freebooter" (which is also prerequisite for "King's Pardon"), so I'd expect to see a lot of folks with 200/200 on this one.

BigApple3AM 10-16-2008 05:27 PM

The achievements are easy and the multiplayer is super fun

Jonspach 10-16-2008 05:34 PM

I only played a couple of challenges last night, but I enjoyed it. Looking forward to playing more.

Avenger 10-16-2008 08:10 PM

The campaign is fun, and the later levels do provide a decent challenge - particularly the final hard level :)

Online is great fun, though you really do need people to use their microphones.

I think it is definitely worth the 800MS price tag

Haven't played online yet, is the multiplayer in a "team" format?

Yes it plays as 2 vs 2 or a larger 4 vs 4.

You wait in a lobby until it fills up and can swap teams there (never allows more than 4 players on the same colour in 4v4, so no unbalanced games unless people quit mid-game). The map is picked at random, though you are shown a quick image of it before it loads, along with the required number of towns you need to get.

Once in the game it plays largely the same as single player, just with the other ships on your side controlled by the other players and you can communicate with them if they have a mic. I've found it to be really fun and sociable, though that of course depends on the groups you are playing with

ArcticOblivion 10-17-2008 10:28 AM

I wasn't sure about it at first, though I've been looking forward to it since I first heard about it.

I downloaded the trial and didn't REALLY have a need to buy it until the third stage (the Hard first tier one). I don't regret buying it at all, especially at 800 points.

I'd tell you to play the trial if you can't decide. And if you have then buy it; there is a LOT worse out there for 800 points.

mybadlegs1 10-17-2008 10:50 AM

I love it :) its great fun and the multiplayer is a hoot!

noddegamra 10-17-2008 10:55 AM

it looks awesome. Im going to try the demo tonight :)

mybadlegs1 10-17-2008 11:06 AM

By the way, if anyone fancies having a little go on multiplayer today. im around till about 6pm GMT. Add me if you like, GT is in my sig!

Beau Coup Dinky Dau 10-17-2008 11:45 PM

Sweet. Thanks everyone for your input. I think I might give it a go!

CrAb WiZaRd 10-19-2008 04:57 AM

its great for multiplayer, its strategic and requires teamwork and smarts and knowledge of the battlefield, its snigle player can get annoying and hard but you wont get tired of multiplayer. i recommend it!

n8ryder 10-21-2008 04:01 AM

I tried the demo and wore it out, so i upgraded to the full version. Iam addicted to it and its my new favorite Live Arcade game. No joke.

EWO79 10-21-2008 05:58 AM

The multiplayer is great but yeah the single player sucks, especially once you get into later medium and hard levels. Your computer AI teammate plays so stupidly it's almost like he's trying to make you lose.

getwarmer 10-21-2008 06:22 PM

i love it. i love strategy games. it might just be my favorite xbla game. i would love to have a buddy or two that i play online with and own everyone with. let me know if anyone wants to? my gamertag is an inland sea

Diaxen 11-10-2008 01:42 AM

Personally I think this game is fantastic! I kind of feel bad for the developers, according to Mygamercard, only about 8,000 or so people have bought it so far. The credits list for this game is pretty extensive. The Certain Affinity guys must have lost their shirts over this! With a bunch more challenges, this could have probably been a full $40 game or so.

WillSci 11-11-2008 06:08 PM

I hope more people buy it too. It takes too long to find a match-up in 2v2 sometimes.

This is a very good multiplayer game. If you like war strategy at all, you'll love this. My only gripe is that teams with mics will have a major upper-hand. I always play 2v2 with a partner that uses voice. If the other team doesn't have mics, they get smashed. If they do, it's a much better match.

Add me if you need a partner. I can't get enough of this game.

eshewitt 12-28-2008 03:18 AM

I think the game is okay but everyone else I have met whose has tried the game says it completely sucks.

Grey 0815 12-28-2008 08:21 AM

The solo-challenges are a lot of fun, until you have to depend on you AI-Teammates to work together with you. Those guys are incredibly stupid. If you could have given them basic commands (stay/follow/attack that/...) the game would have been much much better. Still fun, but sometimes very annoying.

Zombie Champion 01-05-2009 02:05 PM

I have owned it and played ~17 hours on it. I love the game play, and playing with friends both online and offline is where this game shines! Great fun, and well worth 800MS! Would certianly recommend it.

Dooms81 05-08-2009 02:46 PM

Yea its one of the better arcade games, seeing your avatar captain the ship is funny!

x HaVoK 07 05-23-2009 06:05 PM

It is a pretty good game and I think worth the 800ms, the campaign provides a decent challange and the multiplayer is great...especially with a few mates (better communication).

Reggiez 06-24-2009 02:56 AM

Have been wanting to get this game for a long time now and yesterday I went ahead and downloaded it. Must say that it really is quite enjoyable even though I would have liked to play through the challenges in co-op mode. Still well worth the 800 ms points I spent on it. :)

eshewitt 07-08-2009 11:32 PM

I like this game because it is very simplistic but can be very chalenging and has a multiplayer that will keep you playing.

intoxicated662 11-29-2009 09:24 PM

I tried the online demo for 2 days as that is all the trial allows and I like it. Reminds me of Rampart but updated and alot better than that old game. Anyways, how's the online community for this? Every time I went online in the trial/demo I played against the same 2 guys and they were friends. Hope the online part isn't dead or I won't buy it.

Purified666 06-05-2011 03:32 PM

i bought it too, suprisingly, its fun for only 400msp,

have another question though, why cant i rate this game???

Danyaelus 11-27-2012 10:17 PM

This is a great, "no experience necessary" game to play with casual gaming friends, especially at the price.
