You could also 'romance' Tali as a main choice in Mass Effect 2. Also, you could just not romance anybody in one of the games? Most of my playthroughs of ME1 don't even have a love interest.
Anyway, look up the new interactive Genesis comic. Let's you make your choices without having to play through the game, much like ME2's beginning on the PS3. I think. At least, the Mass Effect 1 part of it. Costs a little bit of Microsoft Points, but it might solve your problem for you.
