If you want all the stuff from your old hard drive, then use a transfer kit from Microsoft, this will copy your hard drive's content onto the new larger drive.
That is what I did, they will send it to you for free, just visit their support page on their site.

My 360 died on me weekend before last, 13 months after it had rrod and got repaired.
Now it is out of warranty, and it isn't a rrod fault!!
