Well being married gives you benefits. So it's not like they are taking advantage of a system. They want to be treated equally. Marriage is a religious "constitution." So marriage itself isn't the point for most people. It's the fact that they can't get the benefits everyone else can.
As long as you aren't shoving your religion down my throat and knocking on my door and don't care too much. However. Take into account two things.
-Separation of Religion and State
-The Constitution
It's going to be deemed constitutional by the Supreme Court. And not all gay people have sex. That's a stereotype.
Well you are in North Carolina. A very right wing influenced state which is probably why you hate taxes and whatnot. I'll vote for whatever I think is right. But when it comes down to it, it's Dem v Republican. So voting 3rd party or independent is pointless. We'll have a gay president before a 3rd party gets voted in. Our political system is broken. I think we both can agree with that. My biggest problem is the Republican Party treats the bible like a god. There's no rational thinking between right and wrong for most of them (mainly senators/reps). But that's an entirely different discussion.
Legalize all drugs. Debt = Gone.
The argument for taxes is if someone makes 5 million a year they shouldn't pay the same percentage as someone who makes 30 grand. Because 10% for a millionaire is nothing as opposed to someone who makes 30 grand. That won't solve our problems. But Mitt shouldn't pay less money in taxes than I do as someone in a middle class family. To solve the US debts you need to stop treating corporations as people, end the war in Afghanistan, actually support a middle class instead of dividing lower and upper, and legalize drugs. If you legalize, regulate, and tax say Marijuana most state debts will be gone in a week.
Good. So you are somewhat rational.
Obama ended a pointless war and has almost ended a second. He's trying to support the lower and middle class as opposed to tax cuts for the rich. He hasn't done everything that he promised. Mainly because he won't use his power. Bush managed to start a war based on lies. But you have the senate who filibusters every single Dem law that tries to get passed so nothing ever gets done. Our countries problems aren't the presidents. It's both parties equally that get nothing done.
I have my own opinions on everything. If there was a Repub that had views I agreed with I'd vote for him/her. I support Obama because I personally think Mitt was a complete f*cking idiot. Obama isn't great, but he's better than 43.
