Definitely a wise choice! Even though you could use weapon repair kits to repair special named items I prefer to use junk weapons. I use the weapon repair kits for emergencies. It will ultimately be beneficial for you.

I'm taking your advice on the Jury Rigger perk. My repair is at 60 but I'm only level 27 so I got a while before I need to worry about running out of perk, lol.
