So, I'm reading conflicting reports. Some places are saying it's the same game that was included in The Orange Box, some are saying it's different, some are saying the main game is the same, but the challenge maps are different. So which is it?

I only ask because I don't think I'm willing to drop $15 on it, if it's the same thing I can just pull off my shelf and play again.

THE DEFINITIVE ANSWER:

It's the same game!
However, it has 14 new ADVANCED chambers that are not entirely difficult, but fun! (SA7 is my fav!) Also, it has 12 new achievements.
All that for 1200MSP... a steal if u ask me!

I still think it's a let down especially since it is $15. It appears to be pretty much the same game and I don't see the additional 14 levels being worth the $15. I might have gotten it for 800 points but I'll wait until this hits a price drop maybe. I was hoping for a new chapter in the Portal universe.

Yeah, I'm with you. They really could have released the fourteen new maps as Orange Box DLC. I love Portal, but I doubt I'm gonna pick this one up now.

I very much doubt we will see a price drop on this

There is not all that many arcade games that get price drops and with the amount of Portal fans out there this will be a big hit despite the price.

I'm a little miffed because I was dumb and bought this before i knew it was just Portal + 14 new maps. ESPECIALLY since you can get all of the new maps for free if you had the PC version of Portal. I feel a bit ripped off.

But at the same time, if buying this proves to Valve that we should get more Portal, sign me up.

Your getting a retail-quality game (at a stupid 630Mb!), about 5 hours gameplay, some of the darkest humour ever seen in a game, 12 new achievements (ok, the CAKE achievements are similar to ORANGE BOX) & 14 brilliantly different (if underwhelmingly easy) chambers for 1200MSP.
So you can d/l the PC version of the chambers for free. Great! For those who never bought THE ORANGE BOX, this is an amazing introduction to the most innovative, funny & mind-bending game in ages. And for those of us who bought NARBACULAR DROP in the 90's & PORTAL (either standalone or via ORANGE BOX) on the PC, then bought ORANGE BOX on Xbox360, it's an easy & enjoyable 200GP. Also, who can't resist a bit of GlaDOS?

It's still cheaper than the PENNY ARCADE RIP-OFF EPISODE 1... and that's also only 5 hours gameplay. (It's still 1600MSP)

I think when i've got some MSP i am gunna get this.
Have played the flash version fully, and played a bit of Portal at a friend's who has Orange Box, but have never got Orange Box myself. And tbh, i'm not that bothered about HL or TF2... so it seems like the wisest move imo.

Its abit of a con really... Same story, just new challenges! :(
Thats not worth 1200msp in my opinion...

Unless you have never played it before.. then its a must have game!

i love that they released this again as my orange box disk got chipped when someone(i blame my gf) stood on the box so the fact i can now get her to play it and mess with her head is brilliant.

I enjoyed the game a lot. I like to get on it just to shoot myself around the maps. :P

Well just downloaded it and finished the main story... ITS EXACTLY THE SAME!!!!

that is such a let down... i paid more than $1 per new level, because i already bought The Orange Box...

So really pricey if you already own The Orange Box, and cheap as hell if you dont...

I'm glad I decided not to buy this. 15$ for fourteen new maps, and a license for a game I already own?!?!

Give me DLC plz.

It's fair for those that don't own ToB (at any time or anymore) and fair for those that just want to replay Portal and get achievements.

I wish I had done research on this before I spent the 1200. I assumed that the subtitle "Still Alive" meant it was a sequel to an awesome game. I was wrong. It's the same game!

Oh well. Now that I've spent the points, I gotta work on the 200 GS.

or if you love Portal enough to buy 20 new challenges.

Hey. Wow. I have the acheivement "Go for the Gold". I haven't played a challenge map on this one. But I do have one on Orange Box. Looks like it glitched in my favor. Yay me.

No one here seems to really realize that not everyone bought the Orange Box.

I never bought it, I hate Half Life & Dislike Team Fortress 2, so having Portal (which is masterful) on the Live Arcade with extra maps is fantastic. 1200 is a bargain, its currently the only title that really deserves that price too :/

Another high point is the achievements :D I can get them all from portal and maintain my completion rates, rather than have like 200/1000 from the orange box.

Hope there's extra DLC sometime too :)

I still see it as worth another playthrough for achievements, to be honest. I already 1ked the Orange Box, but I loved Portal so much that I couldn't pass up the chance at more achievements. And don't hold your breath for a price drop. Price drops are from 800 to 400 if it is an Arcade Hit, meaning that loads of people bought it. Sometimes a 400 point price drop is possible, but only if the game is 1200+ points already and is not selling well at all. Portal already has a fanbase, so I wouldn't expect a price drop ever happening.

This is to expensive for just extra bonus maps the game mode is the exact same just with new achievements they should of just let out a map/achievement DLC for like 500ms.

i think its a waste, but simply because i got the orange box for £10, which is round about 1200 points id say....

This is a total rip-off since I got the entire orange box for 15 bucks new. Definetly should have been DLC for the orange box. I would have considered getting that

I think they created this for the people like me who never got orange box and want to download it from arcade.

Unless they sell orange box on there too?

You can get the orange box for £10 so I would get that instead and only get Portal : Still Alive if you desperately want more gamerscore and like the original.
