You will know you are there because there is a building on the peak. Slide down a few slopes on the north western part of the peak until you can see a steep drop into forest canopy below. Jump and hold out till the last second to open your parachute (The meters only go up while your parachute is closed) This should give you 1098 meters or close to it.

Simply complete side missions for the Guerillas or Drug Cartel. Side Missions are found on the mini map as yellow or green circles with an exclamation mark in the middle (!).

The salt refinery can be found nearby the prison that you visited during Mission 2. The collects are all within this small space, so should be quite easy to collect.

what about the all stunts done achievement, i assume this is either one of 2 things:

you successfully got all the other 'stunt' achievements that there are

or

you done all the different combos of stunts, i.e:

chopper > chopper
car > car
boat > boat
chopper > car jump
chopper > boat
car > boat
car > chopper
boat > chopper
boat > car

although i could be wrong.

on a side note ... for all the collect missions just go around the island and collect all the blue dots on your map / minimap and you'll get them all. I'm gonna start doing this when i've done the main mission mode.

All of these are fairly easy to get, just get a helicopter and then go round the map. Use the pda map to see where the blue dots are and fly to them. Then start looking. Some are on the ground, some are on top of building, some are in the water.

All of the items are easy to get except 2 of them.

1 is on the arm of a very large statue near the Capital city. I managed to land the helicopter on the arm rather than attempt to parachute to it. It was tricky but managed it after a few aborted landings.

The other difficult one is on a walkway near the top of a chimney at a power station. There is no ladder. So you either have to parachute down and hope your aim is good, or you have been practicing maneuvering your parachute.
I used the helicopter again, just maneuvered near the platform, with the left door facing the platform then just exited the copter and landed on the platform.

This is an excellent game if a little flawed, AI wise and graphicall glitches. But still very recommended.

Now if i can just find a damn good spot to base jump from. So far furthest ive got is 483 meters

you dont unfortunately, you just have to go for it, and try to glide in free fall for as long as possible.
1000 metres is 1km or just over half a mile so its a fair way to fall.

Ive just managed a 771 metre free fall from the eagles nest.

EDIT: Finally done it, the bit that Madjax recommended is more to the north east than the north west, it's a very flat bit (only flat bit going to the north of that shack on that mountain, i glided down and managed to get 1092m base drop :)

a hint, hold 'down' on the analog so you float a bit more, if you don't do that your guy falls flat onto the mountain side.

An easy one, find busy road grapple one of the cars reel yourself in then "jump to Vehicle" jump off and reapet 20 times, or you could parachute off the car then just jump back on to it, and just repeat that 20 times.

This one will take a while, or you could get this with the wanted level Achivements, as you'll need some choppers for this achivement.
get your wanted level up to a decent amount 5 is best. then grapple the chooper reel your self in untill he either gets in to the chopper. or just jump on to it yourself. now just repaet this process 20 times. as there will be more than one chopper when your wanted level is at 5.

Easly done: Find a Part of the map that you have took over, that has a house you Liberated which has a chopper on the roof, there should be a guy there with side mission just keep doin his ones over and over to get these.
he will ask you to things like
Destroy a chopper, or car, tanks.
Pick up Crates, Money, Photos.
Nick a vehcile etc......
it should take no more than 1-2 hrs at most.
NOTE: Save at least every 10 side missions as the game freeze's up alot, otherwise you'll lose your status on the side missions.

Easiest way to do it, complete a main mission, save, call for the extraction to the briefing and go to the next one. You can just keep racking up the relatively short main storyline in a few hours. I got this one without really trying.

The difficulty (for me) suddenly rocketed up at the mission where you have to get onto/into the presidential palace, and then at the pen-ultimate mission of trying to jump from plane to plane in mid-air. Didn't take me THAT long to get it though.

I tried that and nothing worked. I got it by having the Police at '5' and the Montano meter at '1' or above. Once you see this achievement tick in, you know you've got the right criteria.

The 'most wanted' status is when you have a 5 in the police wanted level. What I don't understand is what difference it makes to have a wanted level of 1 or a wanted level of 5 as it doesn't seem to matter. Ok, it takes longer to get at 0, but there's no difference in what chases you or what shoots at you. Looks like a bug to me.

ok so with the collect missions i am completely stuck, i got every collect box except for one, the collect mission is called 'I Want A Super-Potent Weapon' and i go to the location where it's at (which is a big factory on the side of a mountain) and i cannot find that one package anywhere, it's got me thinking that it might be a glitch in the game that it isn't where it's meant to be, i've looked around the factory, on the factory on the massive chimneys that are on it and i cannot find this one package anywhere, has anybody found this one package at this factory / mill thing, if so where abouts is the package???

Its on the Chimney, if you look dead on the factory its the left one - near the top on the platform there, you need to jump/freefall to it :)

then jumped out and pulled my chute

then glide into the chimney and you will fall onto the platform

To get the one on the statues arm, use the heavy drop copter (gyro-copter or something) and just hover over the hand you dont need to exit the chopper.

Has anyone discovered what a takeover mission is yet?

Liberate Provinces In San Esperito.

Press the Bck button and select the Political map, and you will see 34 parts to the whole island. now in these parts are green ! marks you need to find the guy next to the ! mark, to start a Liberation mission. now most parts of the map need you to Liberate 3 towns/villages/army depot etc.. but some take 2 to even 1.

all thats required is to Liberate a towns/villages/army depot etc.. kill some enemys etc.. and destroy the barracades.

Now you can do the races in any Vehicle. so dont use a car as on atleast 5 of the races there is alot of traffic, so get vehicle drop "the gyrochopper then start a race, float above the star line untill it says "go" then float just about 1-2inches above the ground. (make sure you dont hit any traffic) and pass through the check points one by one, but do make sure your atleast 1-2in from the floor as you do though.

NOTE: in 2 of the races you will need to use the Vehicle that is suppiled Especially the plane one.

Takeover Missions Completed.

just like the Liberate missions, go to the yellow ! marks to start a take over, you'll know which ones youve done, as the house sign next to them will be yellow as well, so if its black its not been done.

all you have to do is again kill some enemys, blow up the baracade then kill a bad guy (instead of capturing the flag), and you done.

You have to go to the Rioja base camp 4 at the eagle's nest, and about 100 feet north. You find a triangular rock jutting out and just jump off there. NEVER stop holding back on the left stick on your way down. you may have to go a bit to the right, and make sure you deploy your parachute at the last second before you hit the ground.

Ideally, I want each Race to have it's location in San Esperito. As they don't say on the map whether you've done them or not, it can get confusing as to which race is which. If anyone does that, I'll compile it, add our names to it and submit it.

Just wanted to let everyone know that it is possible to get the Most Wanted achievements with just your police meter at level 5. I did it just now while cruising around the ocean on the jet boat, in fact I didn't even know I was being pursued until the first achievement unlocked and never once saw a police boat or helicopter for the whole five minutes :D.

Yeah it's weird.

When I first got the game, that was the first achievement I went for. Had 5 on the police meter for ages and nothing ticked over. Hence my assumption that you needed at least 1 on the Montana side.

Just a query about the stunt achievements. Do they have to be all in one string, so stunt ride car, to stunt ride another car, or can you ride the car, get off, do a mission, then get another one to count for the two??

All I did to get most wanted is when I was just getten in to game fly over to east side of screen by island with no icons on it gives ya 5 right away then just fly around. when heli about to blow hop to new one.

Reading earlier in this thread would have given you your answer. Basically, drive a car/truck/whatever, parachute off it and then graple it and reel yourself in x20. Job's a good un'.

The guide that's up now has a lot of good tips, but having just completed Just Cause, I thought I'd provide some clarifications on how to get the Achievements and some of the things that have been said in the thread...

*Stunts Achievements

Since so many people are confused about how to get this to register, due mostly to the fact that the game doesn't track each type of stunt, here's a step-by-step method to getting a registered stunt:

1.) Switch to the grappling hook (if it's very early in the SP campaign, you don't have this yet, just wait until you get it.)
2.) Use the grappling hook to hook onto a nearby vehicle (boats, helis, or autombiles)
3.) Hold down the Right trigger to reel yourself into the vehicle until you are in stunt position on top of the vehicle.
4.) Rinse and repeat.

You should get the automobiles and helicopters achievements through the normal campaign and takeover missions, so no need to go out of your way too much doing this early in the game.

When you're ready for the boat achievement. Try these steps.

1.) Find a fast boat. They're all over the bays. Freefall/parachute down on one from an airplane. You can also use the Agency boat, but this works best if there's someone driving the boat.
2.) Go to stunt position on the boat.
3.) Release your parachute (boat needs to be moving fairly fast.)
4.) Immediately switch to the grappling hook if you haven't yet.
5.) Look straight down and rehook the boat.
6.) Wind yourself all the way back down until your back in stunt position.
7.) Repeat 20 times.

I am absoltuely sure these steps register the vehicle stunt. Hopefully with the steps it'll be clearer for everyone.

*All Stunts Achievement
This defintely is done simply by completely the requirements of the four other Stunt Achievements. As I know I've never done a Boat to Car or Boat to plane stunt.

*Surviving at Most Wanted Level
I have definitely verified, this must be done with no missions active. I recommend doing it in a city. Use the weapon types the cops drop so you don't run out of ammo. Be sure to pick up health drops from the enemies. And use grenades. Just keep hammering them, and 5 minutes after reaching level 5 Wanted you'll get all three Acheivements.

*Takeover missions
The rival drug cartel has practically no air support at any of its houses, so once you unlock a heli with missiles, you should always fly in with one of those. You can clear the entire mission in less than 30 seconds once you get the hang of aiming your missiles at the bunkers. If there is air support, it's just one helicopter, so just keep your eyes out for that and as soon as it shows up shoot it down.

Stay pretty high to avoid ground fire.

Liberating Every Province
I haven't seen this mentioned yet, but you don't have to liberate every single settlement and village in each province. If you focus on the larger settlements first, occasionally you'll automatically gain control of an extra settlement.

This is a huge time saver, if you can figure out which ones are largest. Unfortunately, there's no easy way to do this. If there's a city in the province, do that first, as I've seen a province go geurilla after only successfully completing that mission.

Unlike the drug cartel, the government generally has excellent anti-air support. All villages have an unlimited supply of helicopter support and a great number of them have Anti-Aircraft turrets.

These are indicated by Red Squares with black outlines on your mini-map. If you see these pop up while you're over a village, just jump out of the helicopter, because it's going down.

Taking over a city
Luckily, no cities have anti-air support, so a missle-endowed helicopter is your best shot at taking over a city. This also keeps you out of range of the tanks making wrecking carnage on the city a cake walk as long as you don't let enemy hueys get within range.

Taking over a city is the only time the meter that appears below the mini-map once you start a settlement liberation comes in handy. Basically you need to move the little white house in the middle of the meter all the way to the right side to the end of the green bar.

You do this by killing enemies and enemy vehicles. If you don't kill your enemies fast enough, and they kill your geurilla allies running around, the meter will start slipping to the left side. Stay just above the skyscrapers with your helicopter and you'll be completely out of range of the tanks roaming the streets, and all you have to worry about are approaching choppers.

Taking over Settlements/Cities on Foot

Pick a small submachine gun and a rocket launcher. I recommend the Geurilla launcher that unlocks that holds 4/4 rockets, it's much better than the weaker agency one and you can't hit helis down with the grenade launcher. This should be plenty for most settlements.

If you find yourself up against armored vehicles with no rockets, then just use buildings and foilage for cover and flank them. Once you get behind them, they generally ignore you. I can take most settlements in about 60 seconds by using these steps.

1.) Reload both of your main weapons.
2.) Start Mission.
3.) Fill up your Ammo packs with the ammo pile right near the mission start. 4.) Charge the settlement.
5.) Use your submachine gun to mow down soldiers on foot. Ignore helicopters, and go out of your way to avoid armored vehicles.
6.) Once the barrier objective lights up, quickly switch to your rocket launcher
7.) Swithc to first person. Manually aim at the barrier.
8.) Blow the barrier in one shot with a direct hit (sometimes you can take out tanks in the process.
9.) If you're having trouble finding enemies between barriers take the oppurtunity to shoot down nearby helicopters with your extra rockets (you only need 3 for the barriers.) By the time the heli crashes the enemies should have respawned. Quickly scan the area with a submachine gun unzoomed, your autotargeter will light up when the crosshair is over an enemy.
10.) Whatever you do... DO NOT GET IN A VEHICLE, this makes you easy pickings for the normally completely incompetent helicopters and any nearby armored vehicles. Getting in a vehicle normally spells out almost instant death.

Side Missions
If you're planning on doing the Side Missions Achievements, I strongly recommend doing them early. While having the Gyrocopter can save some time, if you just use the chopper at a taken-over cartel compound or hideout Agency 05, you are just about as good.

The reason I say early is because doing them unlocks useful Cartel weapons, vehicles, and hideouts that will help you later when your trying to liberate all the provinces.

I also strongly recommend that you do Cartel side missions as opposed to Geurilla side missions. But that's just the completist in me, as you should get enough points for all Geurilla promotions well before the end just by liberating provinces, but you won't get enough for max Cartel promotion without doing 40 or so side missions.

Hi i have read every tip in this tread for the air vehicle stunts, but i can not get it. I have done around 40 car to chopper stunts, but still no achievement can anyone help me ??

get a boat and speed up but dont too fast ( because if u are too fast you cant get back to our boat after going up in the air ) . You have to be at a speed that you can parachute off ,so do it ! than quickly after you have parachuted off jump back to the boat . repeat it 20 times and than you will get it . boat to boat stunt!

If anyone knows what the precise criteria for 'most wanted' is, I'll edit this.I went to the area which you go to in the first mission to save that guy in a cell (who thinks you are the enemy initially). In that area I went outside and ran back and forth and the police kept respawning. I did this easily for 5 minutes to get the achievements. Hopefully that's enough to know where it is because I couldn't get a good picture of the place on the map.

Then I would press "Y" to exit the helicopter and pull out my parachute. As I was gliding down, the helicopter would fall past me and I could press "A" to grab on to it and enter it. Then I would press the left trigger to fly higher and repeat this 20 times.

I got both meters up to 5 and still no achievement. I went well above five minutes with both meters up to 5 and nothing. Anybody got any clues beyond what I did? Or didn't do? (Edit: Got all three after I tried it without having a mission activated. You must not have any active missions.)

i got all three most wanted achievements without ever seeing a cop. what i did was right after liberating a city i started killing everybody i saw..... then i kept running up and down the road still killing everybody. got to level 5 and lasted 5 minutes without a cop ever showing up. no choppers either, i guess they won't go into rebel territory :woop:
