Base Jumping Achievement

does anybody know how to get this, to me it just seems like you gotta skydive from a height over 1k meters but to get that high you can only do it with a helicopter and when you do the skydive from that high you don't get the achievement ... anybody got any idea where i'm going wrong??

Haven't played the game but jumping from a helicopter isn't considered a BASE jump, though maybe you can use the helicopter to fly around the island and look for a potential spot.

yeah i found that out a few mins ago and i tiried finding an appropriate spot to do a jump but the mountains aren't steep enough to do a full drop, estimating 1000m is hard since you get no kind of indicator really (there's a white bar at the top right, nothing descriptive though) - every time i try jumping off the highest mountain in the game i'm too close to the ground to i have to parachute, i even tried jumping off and just simply parachuting down and that must have been incorrect.

i'll keep testing different mountains / heights and see what i come up with.

this is an excellent game btw :)

i got the achievement after completing a mission. you have to place 3 beacons and then reprogram missiles. you get 30 secs before they blow so i jumped off the building and a cutscene of him jumping and parchuting came on.

If you look at the thread "Achievement Guide", I actually posted an easy way of getting it before the mission that another poster has said.

Yeah thats exactly how i got mine as well. I just jumped off the side of the cliff and it went to a cutscene *BAM* achievement unlocked.

omg 1000meters has to be crazy! I thought I found a super high spot and jumped and it ended up only being 280!!!

Can someone take a picture of the spot on the map and in game?

Do you have to freefall or can you get the 1000m while using a parachute? I managed to do a 980m freefall from near the Eagles Nest hideout, but haven't managed anything else. With a chute you've more control..

i actually got this achievement during a cut scene after the mission where you blow up the rocket before it launches. in the cut scene you jup off a cliff and parachute away. after it ended i was standing on a beach and suddenly recieved the achivement. that was one bug in this game that i liked

the easiest way to explain this, is to extract to the the eagles nest and head north until you come to the end of the mountain. there is a ledge thing sticking out of the mountain. that is where to start your jump. as you are falling, veer slightly left as to not hit the rocks, and head towards the forest. as you are entering the top of the trees, use ur parachute and BAM!! achievement. i got 1098m using this.

This was my final achievement in the game. Can't remember where I did it, since it was a year ago, but for the record, I bounced shortly after pulling the cord, AND LIVED!!! The achievement unlocked, and this game currently sits at the bottom of my list, since I have yet to play it again.

The only places in the game that are high enough are kind of close to the game's highest mountain peaks. Just find a spot that has a half decent (strait drop NOT required) slope heading from the mountain the the ground. It must be good enough for the game to register that you are BASE jumping, and you must also have a decent amount of time to build on your fall angle. Pull BACKWARDS, NOT FORWARDS on the joy stick, allowing you to fall slower, as well a cover more distance. I had to try 4 different spots before getting a 1100 BASE jump. Just keeping looking for and trying out spots, and you'll have the achievement in no time.

i found a good area to do this it is in the riojas 04 "the eagles nest" i think if you head sount east you should find an area where you can do the jump with relative ease.
