I just somehow lost all of my achievements for this game (3/5 endings, all others besides collectibles and saw/laser and beating on hard), for some strange reason i coudnt connect to xbox live, and i tried everything and it came down to recovering my gamertag, and that worked but i lost all achievements. I know that that does happen if its been recovered on another xbox, but it hadnt been, it just stopped working sometime yesterday. pissed.

sorry to hear that. From what I understand when you recover your tag you lose any achievements aquired offline since your last live login?? Did you get those achievements offline and then try to recover your tag??

You lose your achievements for any game if you play the game while not connected to Live and then recover your gamertag without connecting to Live first so that the achievements update on the Xbox servers.

I know because almost 2 years ago when I didn't really know anything about achievements, I had recovered my gamertag at a friend's house who didn't have internet connection (shared with his computer, so I switched the cable just to recover it and switched it back so his sister could use the internet), and I had earned about 500 achievement points offline. I came back home and recovered my gamertag on my box without ever connecting to Live first and my recent achievements and points weren't there. I was like WTF?! Called Xbox Live support and they explained it to me. I learned my lesson after that experience. It sucks but just make sure you connect to live before ever recovering your gamertag.

Thing is I am/was fully aware of that, and but my gamertag hadnt been recovered elsewhere, so I thought I was fine, it just stopped working.

That sucks to hear. Was this by any chance on Tuesday? It doesn't matter if you recover your gamertag elsewhere. If you earn any achievements even on your own box while not on live and then for some reason recover your gamertag (although I don't see why anyone would do that) without signing in first, they will be lost.

The reason I ask about Tuesday is because I'm wondering if Live was having problems. It was the day after Live was down 24 hours. I chose to do the Endless setlist 2 on Rock Band 2 without pausing that day and at one point 60 songs in I got disconnected from Live. I quit out and signed back in because I didn't want to earn the achievement offline. I started all over and 80 songs in I got disconnected from Live again! That rarely ever happens if at all. 10 freaking hours and I just decided to finish it as I had 4 songs left. After I finished, I tried signing in and it wouldn't work. So anyways those 2 Rock Band achievements were earned offline and I just now tried connecting to Live today (2 days later) and everything was fine. Anyone else have problems with Live on Tuesday, Sept. 30?

It was just yesterday, but live was behaving for me like it was on tuesday. Shits weak, although luckily i have a save just before you kill/spare your mother, so i think im gonna go from there, and then get other achievements i cant get from there on a second playthrough.
