XML/RSS as I understand it is a way of streaming information over the internet. It is a kind of a code that allows streaming text and pictures. If you see these kinds of icons it means you can subscribe to RSS feeds from that site.

Then when that site gets updated I believe you get the update sent directly to your screen kind of like a news ticker. Right now it is mostly used for news sites so that you can get updated news sent right to you. This program though sounds like you will be able to get streaming radio feeds on your 360 which might be kind of cool. You can also probably find some videogame news sites which use RSS feeds so you can get those updates too. Other than that I don't think this program is a huge advancement.
