Super Mario Galaxy Hidden Message On Cover

A NeoGaf poster discovered, in the cover art of Super Mario Galaxy, the most humorous coincidence of the year (or perhaps the devious work of a cover artist). In the box art for Super Mario Galaxy, stars highlighting certain letters in the title spell out (http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=190547): U R MR GAY. The stars, which are attached to specific letters, are part of the original official art (http://www.joystiq.com/media/2007/09/mario-galaxy-box-art.jpg) (from Nintendo's press site); we manipulated the image's color scale above to emphasize the stars and corresponding letters, but did not alter the image otherwise.

Nintendo is almost certain to change this now that it's come out, but it does make us recall all those urban legends about sexual innuendo hidden in Disney films (http://www.snopes.com/disney/films/). Sony Defense Force and Xbots have a field day 'cause even Nintendo artists have given you fuel for your crusade. Maybe Nintendo just means people who buy Super Mario Galaxy are happy? Not that there's anything wrong with that.

As amusing as this is, it's probably just a coincidence. I highly doubt Nintendo would let something like that slide if it were on purpose. Also, you guys are seeing things, gay is not spelt in the stars.

Maybe it means Mario is Mr Gay. After years of saving the princess and not getting any, maybe he went off of women. A male friend would appreciate the rescue and all you went through, maybe that friend would give Mario just that little bit extra. Hell, maybe Luigi would too, but we wont go in that direction. Thats true with disney films.....my Dad made me laugh so much when watching bed knobs and broomsticks where the little kid comes downstairs after being giving one the corner balls off the bed...he gets called downstairs and she tells him she needs it back and tell him all about the magical bed...and my dad went "here it comes one of the funniest lines in film history"...the kid looks puzzled after being told and says "whats that got to do with my knob?" meaning the bed knob...I laughed for like 15 minutes straight though that my Dad found it funny and noticed it....yeh anyway...

Mario isnt gay but if i was trying to save that chick hes after and never got any return....id start looking elsewhere. But not that far. :p
