I think i might have found a way to defeat the system. U know if ur playing local Rock Band 1 and u bring up the dash it kinda freezes the game (but does not bring up a pause menu. U could probably do that and if u need 2 take a break so if ur going for iron bladder u could do it that way. But well have 2 wait and see. I would like to test this wen the game comes out and i will give you guys the results.

EDIT: Now thats over with we can post our Endless Setlist and Steel Bladder story's here

I can say with 99.9% certainty that you will be wasting your time. When your controller comes unplugged, you get a message from RB saying to reconnect the controller. Pause has been called it just doesn't show the menu. Same thing with the pressing the Guide button. That menu that displays is a separate function from pausing. Harmonix did not get where they are by being stupid.

If only that did work. But it does pause the game. There is no "cheating" for this cheev. it really is going to take an iron bladder. :p

yep it can be done. all depends on how much you drink. so pee before you play and don't drink or just drink a little. issue solved.

Previously, you couldn't do BWT single player, so I don't know if it'll let you do the Endless Setlist in single player this time... unless you mean "play guitar/bass and vocals alone at the same time".

Well it doesn't say Expert, but any RB expert should know that it will most likely be on expert. Even if it was on any other difficulty it would still be the same length.

Thats what I was thinking all along.... and hoping...

if this turns out to be on expert, I will hurt something!!!..... why... because of the other little part of the achievement that requires no failing at all.

I totally agree with the switching thing....however, this means that your going to have to do it twice for that one person who is the extra guy because that would mean he/she isn't logged in.

not that that would stop you...considering you've done the original endless setlist four or five times already.

Well you had might as well go for the inevitable "do the endless setlist on expert" achievement while doing this one right? I have a feeling that the songs in this one are going to be a lot harder, having more than one song (GGaHT in 1) to make you break a small sweat.

You say that as if I didn't get a 1000/1000 in it.

And there may not be room for Medium, Hard, Expert endless setlist achievements.. looked like only a limited number of secret achievements. And if this is one of them and doesn't explicitly mention Expert, then I'd assume it's not expert given all other RB achievements explicitly mention difficulty in their wording.

We'll see in a week!

Nice one Lucent...hehe

I also think its not required to play on expert because of the reasons you stated.... and plus....it would just be lame!!!

I still think its dumb because of things like accidentally hitting the wrong button using Overdrive or having batteries run out or the cable accidentally unplugged....which would pause the game and ruin your achievement....STUPID.

Why does this achievement exist in the first place????? What were they thinking?

Really though, I guess it wouldn't be that bad, but the fact that they made it a secret achievement and only worth 25 points. You don't really get to show it off. I would feel ripped off if I went through all of that.

Doing endless setlist on expert was one thing, but I guess they just had to up the ante.

I liek this achievement. It'll be a challenge (and fun) to unlock. I just hope the peopel I play with don't get stupid about it.

Now, my only question is: if you're playing with a group of people and one person fails but gets brought back through Overdrive....does that count as a failure? Or does it only count the whole band failing from a song?

What if you hit the guide button with your drum sticks on drums? I've done that before, what if you hit the start button on your guitar on accident, what if you aren't thinking and hit the guide button when you get a message? What if you drop your wireless guitar or hit it too hard and the batteries go out, what if the cord comes unplugged from any of the insruments? and it's 84 songS?!? I'm not gonna consider trying this

HybridPK
09-15-2008, 05:08 PM
Yeah, so to avoid using the guide button, I'd suggest not playing the drums. Or modify your drumset so that the guide and start button are blocked off from the drums sticks. As for message pop-ups: just block notifications. You won't see any friends pop online, message pop-ups, or chat and game invites. I'd also suggest never using a wireless instrument.
But that's just me.

Plus, Unlike RB1's 58 songlist, RB2 has 80 songs.

Me and my boyfriend are going to use Easy Vocals / Hard Bass as a last result. That way sometimes we can be each doing one, and then when we need breaks, we can let one person dual wield while the other rests. I don't know anyone else that would feel like doing this with us so it's probably the only option unless pressing the guide between songs when the game doesn't let you pause doesn't kill the achievement.

Unless you are trying to get all 4 Endless achieves at one time there is no need to do it on Expert. Get the X Endless achieve pausing all you want. Then do it again on Easy for this one. Easy may bore you to tears, but it will give some cushion without failing if you need to make a dash.

You can always attempt it on Expert and if you fail then just complete it for the Expert Achieve.

The easiest way to do it is to play Vox. Most songs have empty sections where you don't sing so that gives you dash time as well. Plus Vox usually ends before the other instruments and begins after the others, so you have extra time between songs.

Yes but if you have to make a dash you can miss more phrases under easy and still be okay than you can under hard. Why do this at the absolute limit of your capability if you don't have too? Cushion room is not a bad thing. I'd rather play easier than I need to and guarantee that I get it first try then push my luck and have something happen causing me to do it again.

If you have to be somewhere that take 30 minutes to drive to in optimal conditions, do you leave exactly 30 minutes before you have to be there? No, you leave a few minutes early in case traffic is heavy or something happens. Same thing here. 6.5 hours is a long time, and anything can happen. Why not assume something will happen and plan to have some cushion.

With everybody going out of their way to get most of these achievements with the least effort possible. Why do people insist on doing what is perhaps the hardest achievement in the game due to time constraints at the absolutely hardest difficulty they can?

I know all too well now, after about 3 hours in today, I dropped my controller. When I reached to grab it I hit the guide button by accident while loading the score screen. Thought that since it did not actually PAUSE the game maybe I was ok. No, after 3 hours and 20 minutes more no iron bladder and now I will probably never get it either. That is way to long to sit and play with no breaks. My throat hurts too.

If your voice can still be that good after 6 hours of constant singing, more power to ya. Mine can't, so I'm planning on doing it twice. That way I won't throw the controller when I fail song 83.

I can't imagine doin it twice, so I tried my luck and did expert bass and it took me about 6 1/2 hours. It wasn't so bad. Just runnin around the house gettin drinks, food, and cups (for I had no bladder of steel), between songs was the hardest part. And Visions, I almost failed that one. But that was the hardest song and its way easier than guitar, and vocals in my opinion, cause I wouldve never made it past Guns n Roses.

To hell with the Bladder, I can pee myself, or out of a window for all curious neighbors to see... but my wrists and fingers would be the sufferees in this achievement. In my band I play guitar... So 7 hrs of nonstop button pushing... I guess honestly I'm going to have to use my wrist guard from bowling and maybe some of those rubber blue things ppl use to keep a burn on there finger cool...

just get a friend to play for you when you need to do something... have someone take over or something. Anyway i heard you can do this on the easiest difficulty. If thats true im gonna try it on mic and then taping it to my speakers. Even thought its not perfect everytime for me it still gets a decent amount to not fail. I'll just do it on the easiest, leave my t.v on and see how it goes.

I enlisted my brother to help me whenever I decide to give it a try if need be. He probably knows about 5 or 6 of the songs on vocal well enough to feel comfortable singing on expert so I can use those opportunities to take a quick break.

Thankfully on vox, there are some songs that have long tambourine sections at the end (lazy eye, for example... I think), so the breaks are kinda built in. Well, at least long enough breaks for you to get a good bit of water into you. :)

I'm going for this as well as the rest of the endless setlist stuff starting in a little while. Passing everything on XGtr won't be a problem at all unless I "forget" how to play stuff due to fatigue or whatever.

I may test between the first and second songs to see if super quick restroom trips are possible...

Edit: looks like there's "sort of" enough time

Edit: 8 songs in an unexpected event occurred and I had to stop. Oh well. I may try again later tonight.

The easiest way to do it is to play Vox. Most songs have empty sections where you don't sing so that gives you dash time as well. Plus Vox usually ends before the other instruments and begins after the others, so you have extra time between songs.

If I ever actually try to get this one, I'll probably do easy vox... but I really don't know when I'll have time to do it twice.

this thread was made before the game was out and there no official name for it then, it was just known as "the Iron Bladder achievement" so I made a thread about trying to cheat it but I'm stupid lol. And Now we pretty much share our experiences in here. So heres your sorry "IM SORRY"

So what you're saying is when you gave the achievement an affectionate nickname, you were actually pretty darn close to the actual name?

Nah, the achievement was originally announced as the "Bladder of Steel" achievement. I'm guessing that he just didn't quite remember it correctly when he made this topic.

If your voice can still be that good after 6 hours of constant singing, more power to ya. Mine can't, so I'm planning on doing it twice. That way I won't throw the controller when I fail song 83. I almost failed Bodhisattva on my run through all these songs:pBut yeah I did this on first run, and got both achievements so I'm done with all this:)Good Luck to anyone who attempts this damn thing.

The hardest part about the ESL2 will proably be finding time to fit it into a day...I'm thinking my next holiday from school. Gonna beat it on expert first then do a medium runthrough on guitar to 5-star everything I missed (probably Visions/Panic Attack/Painkiller...). And, yes, I am a completionist.

is not that we don't believe you but people around here like to have someone else vouch for it that way we all don't wait our time b/c it might have glitched on you or something, this is not a good place to have a bunch of people pissed at you. you know?

Just as a heads up, you can't do it on Easy Vox ... Medium or higher only. Or at least those were my only choices.

I just picked up this achievement today. I sorta freaked out that I didn't since nothing popped up at the end.

Then I realized that I turned off notifications so I wouldn't get distracted by them. -_-

Definitely excited to get the full 420/420 stars! I think I'm gonna work on trying to earn every possible star in the BWT now. :D

Ha, I had the same freakout moment when I finished mine with notifications off.

EVERY star in BWT???? That's some serious dedication.... I haven't played anything but quickplay and multiplayer since finishing ESL2....

(And I still haven't 5*ed Visions Guitar)

Well, I figure since I don't have to redo ESL2 to get all the possible stars, the rest should fall into place over time. It's a long term goal, not somethig I'm looking to do tomorrow. :)

I am very... unhappy... with this achievement right now.
last night, a friend and I decided to do ES2 on expert guitar and switch off occasionally so we could each take breaks for food, bathroom, etc. Anyways, after song 42, while waiting and not touching any buttons, the guide pops up. Definitely not sure why this happened. It just did.
42 songs later, sure enough, I only unlock 3 for 100g instead of 4 for 125g, leaving me with only 975/1000 for rb2. ugh.

Congrats on beating ESL2! :D

I dunno about recommending not doing Bladder of Steel on vox though. I got through it and my voice was totally fine after it was over. It was just a matter of not really belting out the tunes, I think. Vox gives you some pretty generous breaks versus other instruments, so I'd definitely recommend people consider it if they feel comfortable singing. ;)

I got the 900 stars, now I just need to find a good 6-hour window to do this on Expert Bass. I don't wanna risk failing Visions or Panic Attack, which are the only 2 songs I can barely pass on guitar. I just need to play a couple other bass tracks and be familiar with them, then I can attempt this and be done with it. Stupid Iron Bladder achievement...

Unless you have a friend to help you I wouldn't recommend doing it on Vox. 6+ hours of singing makes your throat dry and if you drink something to keep singing you'll likely have to pee before you're done.

Good Job man. I don't have any problems on Bass with Chop Suey and I won't 5 star Shackler's but I can pass it. But Visions is a bitch and Panic attack is instant fail for me. My bro and I do Guitar/Bass and we still have not finished Panic on Xprt. I cause the bomb out. I think we finally made it to like 90%. I need to consistently be able to beat it before we attempt ES2... ( I don't really wanna have to do the 6:00 set twice)

he said he was playing with his bro on expert drums. so quite possible. why his bro played expert when he was on medium is beyond me though, they would have only gotten Vinyl.

He was on expert...which just confuses me more about why he apparently has to try again on medium.

Yeah, I did it on Hard vocals for BoS just in case I tripped up on Shackler's Revenge or some song that I hadn't sung in forever. I was going to do Medium but my daughter teased me that I was making it too easy on myself. I'm just glad my downstairs bathroom is, like, 10' from the TV. :p
