Saving without... Saving?

I just had a question having to do with the statistics.

I have serious OCD and I generally like to keep my arrests and deaths at 0. If I can't help this (like online) then fine. But I've died and died and reloaded every time, and for whatever reason, it's still counted my deaths. I was wondering if anyone else happened to come across this same occurance?

This happened to me when shooting down the helicopters for the 50 helos down achievement. I got busted with about 5 to go but because I lost like $30K when I got busted and shooting down helos is fun, I said screw it and reloaded a save from right before I shot all the helos down. I shoot about 5 more down and it says achievement unlocked. I think there must be a hidden auto save for stats.

I think you're right, I deleted my save game and everything after messing about a bit before starting seriously and the stats all remained...

Well thanks guys. At least I know it wasn't just me screwing up. And I'm guessing the 50 helo is a secret achievement? Didn't see it in the list. Maybe I missed it.
