My first 360 death !!!

so i just decided to get GTA IV since my friend finished it nd i get lik 3 achievs nd everything is going great..im liking the game nd stuff nd out of nowhere the dreaded TWO Rings OF DEATH appeared nd i get a fukin heart attack..now its gonna take 2-3weeks to get it back since my warranty is still in effect (thank goodness)...crashed on me when i was 520 pts away from another 10k milestone................................


anyone care to either comment or share their 360 rings of death experience..??

Wow...that sucks for you, thankfully I have yet to have a dead xbox360. Mainly just cause I got lucky as hell...I sold my first one to a friend when I decided to get a elite, after I sold it to him it red ringed in like two weeks.

I feel for you man...I got my first one launch night...and I'm on number 8 right now. I have no faith in this one either...it's really not a matter of if...it's just when. I wish you well on your adventure with XBOX customer service. I did some rough math once...and I have spent between 6-7 months waiting on XBOXes to arrive from the repair center. Once the new chipset comes out,...with the 2nd 65nm chip...the red ring will pretty much go away for good. One other thing that will help is being able to save games to a HDD once the dashboard update drops. Anyway,...just know there are many of us out there that know your situation all too well...

man not to burst ur bubble but i said the exact same thing to my fd over live about me not having a broken 360 yet but here i am lik 2 weeks later lol

nd juss to throw this out there but is getting an elite a better idea for the future to avoid the rings? or is it the same %age?

Had mine nearly 3 years without 1 problem (talk about lucky!), but it finally RROD on me last week! However, bought sum nylon washers etc and bolted the heatsink's back to the motherboard! I also chucked in a Talismoon whisper fan (quiet my arse!) and XCM core cooler, and we're back up and runnin (so I thought), but my problem is now, anytime there's a slightly long loading sequence or a game freezes for a second, I'm paranoid that it's gonna bust again, once your 360 goes once, it takes your faith in the console with it.

BTW - Already had to reopen it since then, as something was causing the PSU to red-light (electical short), I had to talk it all the way back to just the mobo and re-assemble it one pice at a time till I discovering the offend screw.

I'd hate my 360 if I didn't love it so much.

My 360 just recently broke, i was like damn i going to have wait 2 - 4 weeks for it before i can play any games...i shipped it on a Thursday and it was on my door step on the Tuesday >.< was extremely surprised with their fast service.

mine red ringed just last monday. I had it for 16/17 months before it blew.

But the towel trick worked for me (YouTube it)

Im not recomending it as its dangerous but at least i didn't have to wait 6 weeks for a new one.

It now works like new (touch wood)

I've had mine since Nov. 2007 and no problems yet. I have a question though, if anyone knows the answer, but if you get the Nyko Intercooler and use it, do you give up your warranty? Cause I got it to prevent the RROD because I read on a review for the 360 that it would prevent the RROD. But after I got it, my one friend said that I had just given up my warranty because using it was considered a modification or something. Is this true? p.s. I'm knew to this site, like 2 days, so I still don't understnad the entire website

Uhhh i play mine like 3-4 hours a day and thats just me, my older brother also plays but only on weekends and thats only halo 3 & he usually plays for around 7-10 hours straight lol.
