View Full Version : Final Fantasy VII Advent Children

Ive seen this a bunch of times but its always been the subtitled version. Last night I watched it for the first time in english and I loved it. The voice acting was great in my opinion, and I really understood certain things much better. All in all I was very pleased. Anyone else seen this movie? I think its amazing in many ways. What do you think.

I saw it and maybe it's because I played FF VIII for about 20 minutes and then never played it again but I wasn't that impressed. I mean visually it was stunning but everything else was so so.

Hell yeah Franco I loved it too! I got it on dvd the day it came out. :woop:

Unfortunately not too many other people share our love of this film...:(

sad but true. FF VII was and still stands in my opinion as the best game in the series and the film holds up well in either English or Japanese. I got it the first day on DVD and UMD. my final analysis of the movie- astounding (geez i sound like freakin' Ebert & Roeper)

Its a great film,
Even my old folks liked it,as did my kid.
So i can confirm its adored by all ages.

I thought it was pretty good. I would've been more excited about a film based on FF VIII,IX or X though as I preferred all of those to VII. Controversial opinion I know!

The thread is over a year old. Generally members aren't supposed to revive "dead" threads since more often than not the discussion has ended. You're new so chances are the mods will be lenient but I suppose someone had better let you know now.

On the topic of the movie. I didn't particularly like Advent Children. If I hadn't played FFVII then chances are it would have been one terrible movie. It was cool seeing all the people doing their limit breaks in high quality and with amazing graphics's though.
Some of the fight scenes were well choreographed as well but the plot didn't really hold up to the game (and then later Dirge of Cerberus) as well as I would have liked which was a bit of a let down.

I did watch it in Japanese though so some of the greatness of the film might have been lost in translation.

Personally this film bored me to tears. The CG was great, I can't fault that part of it. But I was confused as to whether this was set before/during or after the game....

I watched up until Tifa has a fight in the church and then turned it off.

i liked it som gr8 fights in it , i loved clouds bike which opens up with all his swords lol that cool , and the beamouth fight was flipping awsome :) gr8 movie

I've played final fantasy and still couldn't understand much of the film and I've seen it twice. It was nicely animated but not my kinda movie.

I believe it takes place 2 or 3 years after the game.

But yeah, this move was awsome! The story of VII consumed me for a long time. I can still walk through the entire story in my mind.
