Ahem.
"You make me
You make me hate
You make me
You make me hate you." Frankly, bothered. Static-X's opening effort on album proper number four Start A War features the above repeated over and over and over again. Nice olive branch to new listeners, that.
It gets no better: 'I'm The One' scrapes metal against metal while vocalist Wayne Static bleats as if he's getting shafted by a mechanoid donkey (we don't know what he's been through, he tells us; about a million different Pro Tools settings, we tell him), 'Night Terrors' sounds like Korn circa their fourth album decent into critical obscurity (at least the drums sound mighty - new member Nick Oshiro's percussive skills are the sole intentional highlight of Start A War), and 'I Want To Fucking Break It' will have all but the simplest thirteen-year-old 'rebel' ejecting this from CD player, room, house, street, existence.
"This one's for the stupid fuckers!"
Best keep it to yourself then, you stupid fuckers.

Words: Jeffrey Onions (http://www.drownedinsound.com/user/view/23033)

The Red Chord should have a serious health warning. The words that keep repeating themselves in my head as I attempt to fight my way through this album is ‘complete and utter devastating violence’ for as soon as opener ‘That Certain Special Ugly’ flies out at you like a tornado of nails, all jarring riffage and terrifyingly intense drum fills you are pinned to the wall, terrorised by music so jaw-droppingly unique you’ll be shaking with both fear and excitement. Splicing open riffs with pin-point precision this is one bastard of a record, stampeding furiously through the boundaries of just about every form of extreme music, from breakneck spazz-metal breakdowns to jolting math-metal syncopations to blistering grindcore madness, all the while seemingly connected by a desire to be as subversively unconventional as possible.
The only break granted to the listener is the short instrumental prelude to ‘Breed The Cancer’ recallingBlack Sabbath’s ‘Planet Caravan’, which obviously doesn’t last long before the violence continues once more. One of the standout tracks ‘Sixteen Bit Fingerprint’ though, is just utterly astounding if only for it’s mesmerising guitar slides that race unremorsefully into a hardcore-metal freakout. This is extreme, challenging music that will get any fan of grind or math metal’s blood pumping uncontrollably round their body.
For Fans of: The Dillinger Escape Plan, Nasum, Decapitated.

This isnt a place to insult each others musical taste. If you dont like a band that someone else does, big deal. Keep it to yourself. This thread is headed towards being locked if you cant agree to disagree.

your lame attempts to insult my music taste are actually quite humerous, static-x are metal, like it or not, and the band above look like another group of school drop outs that put a band together becuase they all had something in common non of them could play if there lives depended on it now, please note this thread should end this discussion full stop.
