You cannot unlock achievements once you activate a RED cheat...
so if you plan on cheating, use a different save, or dont save at all if you still want achievements...

and as always, if anyone has any more information to add to this, let me know and ill throw it in

To access the cheats you must enter the number in the DIAL section of your cell phone and enter one of the following numbers, then press Call.
NOTE that the only symbols you are required to enter are the # or *
To activate, go to Cheats on your cell and activate in that menu.

surley using just guns and ammo cheats wont disable achievements would they? IMO, that would blow hard core, and i prolly woudnt get this or gta4.

yeah id test this out but i just got the game like an hour ago, if i start a game now ill never want to stop, lose track of time and will be late picking up my girlfriend... then ill be out a girlfriend lol

but yeah im hoping that the use of cheats will disable achievements...

the only good thing about them in this style game is when I was done playing any GTA game and got bored with it, I used cheats to make the game different... it really adds to the replayability when you finish off the game

i did this one, cause i got the code with the game, then the game started freezing, every 3 minutes or so causing me to reboot the box, now i got the 3 rings of doom and microsoft is shipping me the return box coffin, lol. so i dunno if it was this cheat or what anyone else use it and everything go ok? maybe it was just my box's time lol.

Just found out... once you enter a code, all achievements are locked...
so if you have a game save that you used a cheat in you wont be able to get achievements...

Yep, and I have gotten all three of my achievements with the shirt "cheat" activated so that one does not disable the achievements.

Have had no problems with my game after using the code, other than a strange glitch where my car suddenly dissapeared and I was stuck sitting in mid air like I was still driving the car. A minute later the car suddenly re-apeared and I continued on my way.

i should be getting the game tomorrow, and i was wandering if i have two save games, 1 for cheats as like a mess around, and 1 for doing the missions it wouldnt effect my achievements?

It'll be hard to keep them separate unless you don't do any of the story missions with one of them. The only thing that differentiates game-saves is what mission you last did and your % complete of the story line missions. So, keeping them straight would take some effort on your part.

yea it wont effect your achievements if you have 2 seperate saves....

like he said, make sure you keep track which one is the achievement one and which one is the "mess around" one...

i just started a game and got decently far into it before i made a new game with cheats, so the percentage is what clues me in

Calling 911 doesn't make achievements unobtainable, I did it right before I got negotiator.

It does not. I used it to get an Ambulance for the Chop Shop and also to get an ambulance for use in Insurance Fraud and during some Push Backs. And I only have 1 game save, so I know for sure it doesn't lock them out.

Yes as long as you dont save your harddrive doesnt know you entered a code so you can mess around with cheats as much as you want.

and figured out #tireiron gives you the crowbar (dont ask how lol lucky guess)

another neat cheat is #beermuscles gives you drunk melee physics...super fun when drunk ingame cause then its like DBZ physics...bounced a cop down the road till i couldnt see him anymore
