dvds dont like me

Well my dvd player attached to my tv has stopped working all together it plays, then says ive pressed the stop button even though i havent touched the remote.
If it doesnt do that it just says disc not valid, and it happens to every dvd i put in so its the dvd player not dvds.

And if i put a dvd in the 360 that has episodes on for example LOST, it doesnt let me select an episode, only play them all from the start even if i select episode 4, itll just play them from the start.

anyone know why this happens?

Concerning the DVD player, it's simply a bad laser.

But in regartds to the 360, that doesnt make any sence to me. But then again, what do I know.

Ahh thanks ill take a look at it, another thing tht puzzles me is that it does play cds (on the dvd player) without any trouble.
