Anyway, the story I bring with me is very interesting and is media related. http://209.85.12.231/10870/86/emo/smile.gif

Okay, so I have just finished work experience at the Moving Picture Company (MPC) in Soho, London, UK.
I had a great week there, they are one of the biggest post-production companies in the UK and very infamous worldwide too. I heard they also have offices in LA and Vancouver.

For those who don't know what a post-production company is, basically they finish up films and commercials with CGI and special effects and colour grading and make the film/commercial look good basically.

There was so much interesting stuff going on, and they didn't make me sign an NDA...I could spill lots of secrets, but I won't.

Firstly, I will tell you what film projects they have done in the past:

-Lots of effects and making Reepicheep, the mouse, in Narnia: Price Caspian.
-Lots of effects in Sunshine
-Mammoths in 10,000 BC.
-Effects in previous Harry Potter films.
-Armada battle in Elizabeth: The Golden Age.
-war scenes in Troy and Kingdom of Heaven.
-London effects in Sweeney Todd.
-Others include Alexander, AVP, Poseidon...many more.

They also have done commercials such as the Sony Bravia one with the play-doh bunnies...go through that commercial frame by frame and you will get some nasty suprises. http://209.85.12.231/10870/86/emo/wink.gif I kid you not...

The offices were also really cool, they had like 5 floors and at the top they had a Sky Bar, free food and drink! Yay! http://209.85.12.231/10870/86/emo/biggrin.gif

Their machine rooms were awesome too, they have a room full of servers and hard drives and disc drives with hundreds of terabytes of storage...looked awesome! Though, they always had the AC on in their to keep the machines cool.
They also had 3 telecine machines, which converts celluloid film, like for a cinema projector, into digital. Each one costs £750,000! http://209.85.12.231/10870/86/emo/ohmy.gif
Also, there was a cinema on the bottom floor, a big one too, and I had a go at lacing film through a projector...pretty difficult actually.

Anyway, they are also working on loads of cool projects at the moment:

-Quidditch scenes for the next Harry Potter film, they look great. Wont tell you anymore though. http://209.85.12.231/10870/86/emo/wink.gif
-Wolfman special effects...looks like an awesome film based on a graphic novel. I also had a playaround with the wolfman on a 3D program called Maya. I made him really distorted, hopefully they dont put my version in the film. http://209.85.12.231/10870/86/emo/wink.gif
-The Watchmen, another cool sci-fi film coming out soon.
-Film with Michael Caine as a failed magician called Clarence in the 70s...cant remember the title, but looks funny.

Sounds like when I did my work experience a year ago. But seeing as I live in...Non-London or Non-York pretty much all of my business were local. But I had a really good time, but sadly...My guy didn't work on any of those "fancy" movie....*coughs*
