Personally, I want to get a white dragon on my left arm, a black dragon on my right arm, and on my back would be the words "neither good nor evil, only human". But that's just me.

Honestly, if you don't have a set design in mind you shouldn't be getting a tattoo.
Just Google cool tattoos or something...

why shouldnt i be getting a tattoo just because i dont have an idea of wat kind of tattoo i want.. Because a tattoo is for life so it's best to only get one if you really know you want it. Then again my fav tattoos are the ones that i didn't plan before going for them.
I think the best advice would be to make sure you save your cash to pay for a good artist who has photos of good quality work to show. The amount of people with shit tattoos is ludicrous.

Actually, you can have a tattoo removed, though it is expensive, and painful. Yoy do have the right idea, though. Make sure you get your tattoo done by a person who knows what they're doing. Just don't steal my idea for the tattoo, or I'll hunt you down and remove it myself.:p

I have four tats and in about 2 weeks I am going to Vegas, while there I plan on getting another one.
You should think long and hard about what you want and where you want it at, never do it on a whim. Another great thing is, if you have an idea of what you want, you can have someone commission it for you.

Wait, are you talking about getting a tattoo or having sex?:p(I'm 17, cut me some slack) Seriously, though, how much did getting 4 tats cost? And does anyone think they can give me an estimate on how much my 3 tats that I want to get (check my first post) would cost?

If you want something to stand out, design one yourself or have someone design one for you. If you pick one off the wall at a tattoo shop or get one from the internet, you have to remember that other people look at these same designs so your tattoo won't be unique. Other ppl probably have it. All of my tattoos I have my cousin design for me. There is nothing wrong with picking one off a wall but there is a chance that someone else also has it. Especially tribals, dragons, skulls and chinese characters.
Just search up on google for tattoos or search up what you want. There are a ton of tattoo websites that you view tattoos but quite a few make you pay to copy the design. Just remember, if you get one, that tattoo will be with you when you die. So get something that you still will like when you are 60 years old. And unfortinatly, some businesses still looks down on tattoos so whatever you do make sure it will not affect your jobs or future jobs. So place carefully.

tattoos can be quite expensive. They vary on the shop you go to, how popular the artist is and so on. My town, the tattoos tend to be a bit higher than other places. I can drive an hour from my town and got to another artist and get $50-100 off. But I like my tattoo artist and won't change unless I have to.
Your dragon one can vary. Depending how big, the detail into it and just plainly how much the artist charges. From my experience, there are not base prices for tattoos, they are priced depending on the size, details, color and so on. Your best bet to find out how much it is going to cost you is to find an artist and talk to him. He can give you an estimate on how much he will charge.

Not trying to put you on the spot or nay say you but yeah, removal is an option, a very expensive and painful option. It is not guaranteed to work either. Thats why when people ask me about tattoos I always let them know that they need to make sure this is what they want and they will like it in 40 years. Especially some of the younger guys that get them.
If you do not know how it works, laser removal is not guaranteed to work for everyone. My cousin has a huge tribal tattoo that wrapped around his arm and went up on his neck. He was a younger guy. He is now 26 and recently joined the army. It was hell for him to get into the army because of his tattoo on his neck. It took him over a year.
He spent about $200 on laser removal. He says it was very painful, it only look 5 minutes for his little part that was actually showing. When you get is removed, it does not actually go away right then, it takes time for it to fade off.
I will stop typing this novel like post lol. but yeah, just make sure if you get a tattoo, make sure it is what you want.

does anyone think they can give me an estimate on how much my 3 tats that I want to get (check my first post) would cost? That's like asking "how long is a piece of string?" I read your first post but it depends on size, detail, who does it, so many factors. One thing for certain though - if you wanted it done well it would cost A LOT! If you are 17 as put in another post though I'd advise to forget about it. As far as I'm concerned there should be laws against teenagers getting tats. Leave it 5 years, if you still want it then get it.

ROFL. Tattoos, as I don't think there is a Topic forum to discuss sex. :p
The cost will depend in how big it is, the detail put into it, and who does it. Yes, I am still talking about tattoos. :)

There's no point in walking into a tattoo parlour and picking a design off the wall. I know someone who has done this, then we've gone to the pub and seen someone with the exact same tattoo. It kind of makes you cringe, guess it's like wearing the same t-shirt - every day for the rest of your life.
If you get a tattoo you should make it more personal. The best way is to personalise it yourself - create your own image, or modify an existing one to personalise it.
There's no point in getting a tattoo that means nothing to you - you'll be sick of it before long.

Dont go in a pick a design off the wall and get it done. They are only there to give you ideas or a basic design.
And prices vary depending on who does it (more expensive the better the person) how much color, detail, time, etc. I have the same guy do all mine so he gives me better deals now.

Dude, its not your tattoo anyway-your asking for people to give you ideas. Unless you pay the money and get a quality artist to design one for ya.
You get a tattoo cos you find a cool image you want to immortalise on your skin. People that just want a tattoo may as well just get one out of the tattoo book

Honestly, in my opinion after getting one out of a book, design one yourself. You may not be that great a drawing or design, but get a concept and run with it. Something unique is actually rather easy if you want to just take some time before getting it. My first was from a book and honestly its not my favorite tattoos of mine. My back however is my pride and glory. I designed the two "stamp" dragon symbols for my shoulder blades, then I given a poem (in not so great of a moment, but its one I will remember for the rest of my life (if you want to know more look at the last page of the tattoo and piercings thread)).
But here is another bit of advice that I gave a friend when he was wanting to get a tattoo. Get what you want on your skin on paper first. Then just carry it in your wallet, pocket, purse, etc. If you can pull that picture out of there and look at it with the same idea in 3, 4, 5 or 6 months later than I think you might be able to live with getting it permanently on your body. If you're not willing to do that, than just make sure it involves something that you've enjoyed very much for a good majority of your life. Like me, I went with Dragons. I've always been fascinated in the idea of them, and I don't see that fading any time soon.
But there is my two cents.

I find that if you want a tattoo, but don't see anything that stands out and are having to ask what to get, you should wait. Wait til you find something that you want to have on your body FOREVER. Think about it for 2 months, if it still seems like a good idea... then get it.

All of my wife's and my ink has specific meaning to us, the only time I ever picked flash was an extremely sparse sketch that I liked and I picked for the sole purpose of letting the artist freehand it and do whatever he wanted with it to make it more a reflection of me. Generally you need to decide why you want ink, do you just want something that looks cool or do you want to use your skin as a medium of expression of who you are? oh and just don't be one of those people with a bunch of crappy work...I am amazed at how many people I meet that want to show me some ragtag hodgepodge collection of random assed crappy tats that are either A horrible, B make no sense together, C flash I have seen in a million mags, or D all of the above. Not to be holier-than-thou or anything lots of times these people admit that they had no plan whatsoever and/or the ink is pretty much meaningless to them.

You should get a tattoo that has some sort of meaning or significance to you, personally.

I have not got any as of yet, but have several planned, and a tip I would give you is to try and get a henna or other tempory tat done first, with the image you are after on it, then you will actually see what it looks like on your skin and this will likely give you a much better idea of whether its what you honestly want. Hope this helps any.
Peace.

No, the whole point was that unless the piece of art you get tattooed on you has specific meaning to you then its completly pointless and your getting a tattoo just for the sake of having a tattoo cos you think it makes you cool.
Which it doesnt.
