View Full Version : Strange Request (for my daughter) if you can help.

This may be a strange request, but when my daughter was born she spent three months in the hospital and got a gift from someone (who bought it in the gift shop at the hospital) and this has since been her absolute favorite thing and she won't go to sleep without it. We wanted to get a few more just in case something horrible happens to this one (or just in case it needs washed at the same time she happens to need a nap, the world might end in that case) because she literally won't sleep without it. However, the hospital has since sold out and they don't know what retailer they got it from (and it had no tags whatsoever) and they don't think they'll be carrying it again since they don't know who to order it from.

Anyway, it is a small pink blanket (maybe 12"x12") and it has a giraffe head and two small arms attached to it. (I'll get a picture up when I get home). She likes to hold the arm and suck on it, which lulls her to sleep.

So, the request: if anyone is at a hospital for any reason (sorry to hear if you have to be there, not fun) could you check the gift ship for something like that? Doesn't have to be a giraffe, but the arms are key. I'll paypal you or send a money order or something to pay for it and the money for shipping.

Try this website my man. Loads of blankets with various animals attached, some of them have the arms you seek:

Hope that helps.

I saw that when googling around last night, but I'm not sure they'll be good enough. The arms don't look long enough for her to hold and suck on at the same time. Maybe the bear, but the others are way too small. They'll probably be a last resort, but hopefully someone can stumble on the same one we've got. I'll be off work in a few hours, the picture should give a better idea.

Thanks though. :)

EDIT: I also found a place called Boyd's Bears that had some decent ones. It's just hard getting an infant to change habits so I was hoping we could find the same exact thing, ya know? We'll have to try and trick her into a new one if no one has any luck.

That's where I get my blankies....wait...crap...

Essentially Pants, If your up for paying for shipping. I know my Grandmother makes that sort of stuff, along with the normal...Christmas jumpers. So If your up for paying the shipping I'm sure I could get one too you.

But for trying to get her to change her habit. Wild guess from someone who dosen't have a child - At least I hope I don't -, but why not change it while she is sleeping. So when she wakes up she will notice it, and soon will expect to see that when she wakes up, and then move on from there.

icky, that is VERY close! I will definitely show that to my wife when she gets home, I think it would be a good replacement. Thanks! :)

yeah but if she noticed then there would be hell to pay and you would ahve to be very careful not to wake her,

I was going to suggest the same thing....if all else fails, maybe you can have some made for her.

C'mon guys! Keep searchin'!

Lets spike this baby!

----

Anyways, I hope you find what you're looking for, I know what it's like to break something like this. I used to have a blanket I carried around with me everywhere when I was little, and it got lost at a hotel once. I've never been the same since.

Also, my best friends dog only plays with a certain ball, even though they got the EXACT duplicate, he knows the difference. My friends Dad said that when the toy breaks, they might have to get rid of the dog! :p

But we got a good team of giraffe searchers, hopefully you can get a perfect replacement.

I think that my grandmother's store dealt with this company, as I'm certain we sold the giraffe dolls at one point. If we still have an open account with them, I could get you the blankets at wholesale price. I'll be at work tomorrow, I'll check then.

Sorry for the double post, but I talked to my grandmother. We no longer order from Gund, but we still have an open account with them, meaning we can still make orders. However, we actually stock a line of blanket things from Russ, another company, that look VERY similar to the Gund line in the link. We don't have any giraffes, but I recognized the frog.

If the Gund ones were close but not it, then there's a good chance your daughter's blanket is from Russ. If you could give me a few pictures or a more in-depth description, I can find out which company it is and order a few.

Unfortunately, if there's a minimum order amount (probably won't be), you'd have to wait until our next order, which will probably be a month or two from now.

Did you ever find one? If not good luck I'll try to look.

Actually, we sort of did. We found out the company is called Wish Pets and the preemie ones have been discontinued. We think they probably have some in stock, but they are wholesale only and we are waiting to hear back from the hospital gift shop to see if they'd try and order some.

Marx, maybe you could give them a shout and see?

I don't remember ever filing a bill under "Wish Pets", but the name's familiar. Is it possible that "Wish Pets" is the name of the product line and not the actual company?

If Wish Pets is indeed the name of the company, I'm not sure if we could open a brand new account for one order. I would still be able to use a picture, it's very possible that Russ or Gund sells the exact same thing anyway.

Yeah, it's just wishpets.com -- I'll try to remember to get a picture tonight though.
