Im following Ronans guide and i did a whole section of combining, the section where you find the flare

Anyway i did around 20 combinations, then i saved, but then i died..lol

Do i have to do it all over again, as i didnt reach a checkpoint, i just saved

Or does it save the combinations that you have done right after you do them?

I think the game remembers them to be honest, as many times I'd do a combination and then die shortly afterwards. Failing that just go to the Start menu after you've finished combining stuff and manually save your game - saves waiting until the next checkpoint.
