The legend that is Cliffy B, most famous now for his part in Gears of War and the soon to come sequel, has come out and said that the Xbox 360 controller looks like an "Alien Spaceship". Quite a strange thing to say... I personally quite like the look of the controller myself. He also states who wouldn't mind the controller having less buttons, but I can't see what buttons could be taken away with the controller still being a success. What do you reckon? Heres the article:

Cliffy B, learn to manage a few buttons or GTFO. I think the 360 has far and away the best controller of current consoles.

I have to agree with you guys. The 360 controller is not only comfortable but lean and intuitive when it comes to layout & design. I have a MUCH harder time with my PS3 controller. CliffyB may be the man, but he lashes out at the weirdest things.

I can see where he is coming from saying it looks a bit wierd but it is the same as the PS3 one kinda, well same sorta shape, but I love my 360 controller and my chat pad.

With enough imagination anything can look like a spaceship.

The controller is one of the highlights of the 360, besides the games of course.

Crazt people these days.

Well, I suppose it could do, anybody actually seen a spaceship?

Less buttons? The looks are subjective, but the number of buttons is just fine.

Since the PS1 days most consoles have stuck with the same basic layout of buttons, and that allows for easier cross-platform games and helps designers as a result.

It doesn't look like an alien spaceship at all. I don't know what hes talking about..

And I agree with everyone else; the xbox 360 controller is the best controller on the market.

He's either been playing Gears of War on the PC far too much, and forgotten how good it feels to use a 360 controller.

OR...

He's not played Gears of War on the PC enough, because if he knew how many buttons were required, and the fact that they are never close together (we're talking keyboard gaming here), he'd understand and praise the 360 controller in all it's glory.

seems a bit bizzare as how would he have got Gears to work so well with less buttons??

well i can see where he has the alien spaceship thing i mean that is not a bad thing and why less buttons i think it is the best controller out their i mean i got used to the white an black buttons but when they made the the left and right bumpers i couldnt have been happier and the fact that they use the analog sticks as buttons as well is superb if anything i think they could implement more buttons and gamers would learn to use them just fine as well as developers would have a blast coming up with uses in their games for them

Looks like a controller to me :p

...And by taking out buttons, and referring to the Wii controller, I think he meant adding some kind of movement functionality, and not using the same thing without Bumpers...

I personally hope they DONT go the way of the Wiimote, as we will then have to deal with bullshit gimicky games that make use of crappy "waggling" actions. All three of the xbox controller variants in my opinion have been the best. Thats right, even the boat wheel that could kill a child was a winner.

Is it me or has he been sticking his foot in his mouth way too much lately?
I mean the ps2,GC,xbox controller has just as many buttons, give or take a button or two.
