I was thinking about getting the Xbox 360 wireless internet connection.
I've always wanted to move my Xbox around, but down to the internet cord, I cant..
I checked the prices and it ranged from $80 to $100. I was surprised at the prices and I just wanted to check with you guys to see if it is worth it.

For me I had to have it, because my internet only comes in at one place, and there is a wireless thing there.
But if you really wanted to move your xbox some where, so you could play out of the way just in case, then yeah.
The bright side is they're less cords!
i got mine free :)
Thats nice, I thought this thread was to help out Lancer...

The attachement is well worth, although I feel the price is way too inflated. I have double set of cords so move my Xbox from livingroom to bedroom with ease.

The freedom of wireless is great, the lag by using the adapter isn't so hot but I've learned to live with it. It hasn't really been a huge issue for me but there's been times I've wished for a cable connection.
If you have the cash, go for it I'd say.

I bought my Wireless Adapter a few weeks ago, and now, 2 floors up from the Wireless Router, i still have an excellent connection. No lag at all!

In another forum someone else asked the same thing. And he got over a hundred replies, and all of them said it is an accessory worth buying. So, go for it I say.

Great accessory, just try not to buy it full price if you can help it. I found mine in a chance encounter that it came in used at gamestop. Got it for 60 bucks. At 60 it's well worth it.

Yes if you can afford it.
I got mine for £30 which was a bargain. It is way overpriced, but then again if you want a wireless connection it's the only way to go.

Personally, I've never noticed any difference between connection speeds using the wireless adapter and using the ethernet lead. And I've done both quite a bit. When I was looking to buy the wireless adapter I asked all my friends with 360s if they noticed any lag using it and they ALL said it was fine.
So to sum up, yes you should buy it, but try to get it at the lower end of the price range obviously.

I usually buy it from this company/store on eBay for around $60.00 used. I've bought 2 Wireless Adapters so far and they both work great! I'm running one in my room and the other downstairs. No lag at all.
I think it's not worth it to pay retail price. $99.99 can buy you many other things.;)
I purchased one when I made the move to my new apartment. The only good spot for my xbox is way too far away from the modem. I get some lag every once in a while and my download speed is kind of slow. Not sure if that has to do with the network or the adapter. I'd say overall it's worth it.

I have always used the direct connect with an ethernet cable which has always worked great for me. With Wireless, I really don't think that it is worth the $100 price tag when you can get a cable for around $20 to bypass any lag issues.

You actually dont need the adapter. You can use your laptop as a source if you have one. Here is a video tutorial:
YouTube - Xbox 360 connect to xbox live without wireless adapter!
It worked for me, until I got a real adapter for free from microsoft for doing some survey.... dunno why, but im not complaining.

That's very useful to know, but I think it'd be a bit of a pain to make sure your computer is on whenever you want to go on XBox Live. Unless you're one of those people whose computer is on all the time I guess.
I suppose you just have to weigh up cost against laziness. :p

Personally, I have the wireless adapter. And it works great, I haven't had a single problem out of it. I have my 360 in my room, and my router in the living room. And I don't have any problems out of the wireless adapter. Now I have problems out of my router, but that is a completely different story. But it's worth the money and you get rid of a cable, so that's a plus also.
Yeah I use the wireless adapter and not once have I had a problem. It works just like it should.
The only time I ever experienced lag, was when I was on AOL, but now I'm on BT and my Live has been perfect ever since. :)
The price is a bit steep, but I'm sure if you browse Ebay and other websites, you'll find a better price than the retail one.

Soo do regular wireless adaptors not work??? Does it have to be xbox's version of the wireless adaptor??? Just curious because I'm think of converting to wireless but it's sounding like it's not worth it.

I advise everyone to buy it only if necessary. Some of us don't have the greatest ISP so it may be slower. I have one and it works very well. Worth the money. Other wireless adaptors can work and will but may be very stressful.
That video was very cool and I will have to try that sometime.

I'd use wired if you can. Buy the wireless if you have to due to the price and you'll also have to forward a port on your router in order to have an open NAT on your xbox.

I've been using it for months with no problems at all, highly recommend it.

100 bucks is steep but check eBay and Amazon you can probably get it cheaper. I personally think it is worth it since I detest cords everywhere. My TV is literally on the other side of the wall from my bedroom where the router is.

You have to go down a hallway, down a set of stairs, through 2 rooms, and go to the corner of the next room to get from my xbox to my router. So I definitely needed a wireless adapter. It has it's lag here and there, but about the same as with a wired, which I had for 8 months. I have some lag, but that's because I have a horrible internet: A cheap router with Bellsouth -_-

I used to have a wireless adapter, but I just hated the lag and all. I finally decided to fish some network wire (cat5e) through the walls 25 some odd feet from the computer desk to the entertainment center and attach them to network jacks. Now a short wire to the 360 and another short one to the router is all I need. No more lag plus 15/15 Verizon Fios equals good times. Now I have to get rid of my adapter.

When I had 2 360's one was hooked up ethernet and I had the other on wireless. However I did not buy the wireless adapter. I purchased a Linksys Wireless Access Point and set it up to run in Repeater mode. Once that was complete I had a 3 foot ethernet from the single port on the back of the access point to the 360 and voila, wireless. This is good for two reasons. 1, it's about $40 cheaper than the wireless adapter and 2, it extends the range of my wireless signal through my house.

I bought a wireless adapter from eBay and a Linksys wireless router at Best Buy. Cost me $150 total but it's well worth it. I can now get on every day and I can play anywhere in my house. :D

Yeah, I picked up a used Networking Adapter as well. There really isn't a problem if you buy it used, which will save you alot of money in the long run.
If you are far away from the wireless router, I think it's a need, because mine is at the other side of my house and running a CAT-5 cable all over that place is a pain. Sometimes, I wish they added into the console like the Wii & PS3.
Also, you can try a network bridge. It's just like a wireless attachment, alot cheaper, and it plugs into the ethernet port. People have saved a bundle on this route too. It ranges in price, but well worth it too.

Im moving to a new place this weekend and im gonna have to connect my xbox wirelessly to the internet. Now i know there is a way to do it by connecting it to your computer and using the computers wireless.
Anyone know what your settings have to be for this to work?

i got mine for like 55 or so used from GameStop with the 10% discount card. I have no access in my room for a direct cable connection so i had to get the wireless adapter. there is other ways to do it without buying the MS one but its by far easier than messing with router settings to set it up as a repeater. sometimes i get lag but i just reset the router and i'm good to go for a week or so, but we have the FIOS triple pack so the video on demand sometimes hogs bandwidth but usually not.
Try to find it used if you can, i definatly recommend it

I'm thinking of getting one, and with all the positive feedback on it, I know it will be a good investment. Although I am thinking of ringing Microsoft and telling them that my (Still in the shop) Adaptor is not working and they'll send me a new one. I've heard it works really well, I'm just too chicken to say anything. :)

For 99$, no it is not worth it. But if you get it under 70, go for it. It is good but it does have some issues.

When I first got my 360 last year, I was thinking about getting a WirelessAdapter, but then just realized the price of it and decided to move my computer from my living room, to the upstairs.

My Router is on a shelf just about 1/2 foot away from the 360, and I never move it, so it would just be a waste for me.
