All the best AntiViruses' cost something.
I'm using Eset's NOD32 myself, heard many good things about it and nothing bad to say about it so far.

I've been using AVG for a while, was recommended by a bunch of friends. Seems to work fine. I'm not sure if it's as big a resource hog as the other big ones.

Um.... is this thread not ridiculously similar to one in the same forum posted only a few days ago?

Surely, they're as good as the same, but you just included paid ones too.

Anyway, here's my input either way.

At work, all the computers use Sophos Anti-Virus (which is paid). It seems to do an ok job of keeping the computers protected, but then again there's a lot of errors coming up on the console (at the server) which don't seem to be fixable. It has all sorts of AutoUpdate errors, which is ridiculous really. It also seems to be a bit of a memory hog - some computers take ages to boot up with Sophos installed, and it's also easily the most memory hungry process running on any one machine.

Stick to AVG or Avast!, which are both free, regularly autoupdate, and seem to cause little to no problems.

If you are willing to pay a yearly subscription fee than I would go with Kaspersky. They have consistently gotten good reviews from pcworld.com, pcmag.com, cnet.com, etc. I have tried trials and from what I can tell the program is very good on system resources and finds almost every imaginable infected file.

Haven't used any antivirus software whatsoever in over 2 years but I'll agree with what Waggly said.

I have the paid subscription for Spyware Doctor and it works great. I have yet to come across a virus that it couldn't remove.

I use Avast Home Edition. Firewall, anti-virus etc. Works GREAT and updates every day. Totally free.

Not true.

Get AVG.

McAfee is horrid, don't get it.

Yeah, but Nod32 > AVG.

Yeah, but Nod32 > AVG.

No.

AVG > Then anything.

Its user-friendly, and has very good reviews.

For my CISCO test, I decided to do some research on this and AVG was picking up virus that other didn't.

I have Norton, it is ok. My computer is a little slow, but nothing major. Once I get my new computer I am going to get a better program.

I am going to have to agree AVG is your best go. I have had no problems with it, so my money is on AVG.
