Cant start game

Hey, this is my first thread so sorry if its in the wrong place.
I recently ordered a copy of dynasty warriors gundam and was looking forward to the gameplay, but when it arrived i found that the disc was loose in the box and had a minor scratch, nothing i wouldve thought mite affect the discs playability though, however, when i put the disc in my elite, a screen came up sayin i need to place the disc in an xbox for it to work, and my xbox itself was stating that the game was a dvd? Is it likely that it is the scratch which is causing this, or is it possible that gundam is not compatible with the elite or i have a european copy of the game?

It's not a problem with the Elite & I'm sure you'd notice if it were a PAL game. The game is probably scratched or messed up and just won't ever play. I've had a few games used that I've bought that say "Play DVD" when I put them into my Xbox & then they never play. One even said "Play Game" then gave me a screen that said "This is an Xbox 360 game. Please play in an Xbox 360 console".... and it was in my 360 & just never worked. I'd return it and swap it for a different copy of the game if you can.
