Alright... I'm currently experiencing the single red ring light thingy... which means hardware problem. But when i called MS, they said that CoD4 has been causing these problems. And come to think about it, CoD4 did start it, I started getting these black dots around my screen, and it was really grainy. So is this true? Does Call of Duty cause the single red light? (4th player light is red, error E-74)

I highly doubt that, I have had Call of Duty 4 since the release day. And I have had no problems out of the game what so ever. It's just a coincidence.

First of all a hardware issue would have nothing to do with a game disc since that's considered "software". So someone on the other end of a telephone BS'd you for you to even think a single game makes your 360 do that .. ease up and take caution at/around/and playing your 360 and the thing will work great.

It costs a lot of money for a reason :p

Yeah if he said it is a hardware issue and they are blaming it on CoD4 they are lying to you lol.

Try another game in your 360. If it get 1 ring with another game, M$ is bull-shitting you. If you don't, then buy a new COD4.

Either way, it's gonna cost ya...

Games do not cause RROD, that is a fact.

Just to clarify though, you got three red lights? Because that is the Rrod. I once got 4 lights, and i mistook that for the Rrod because i hadn't had it yet, but that is something else entirely. So is 1 and 2 red lights.

I can't believe Microsoft are trying to blame a game on a Hardware failure, surely not... No one game could cause any of the Red Rings to occur, so unfortunately its your console on the way out mate... If it is only the 1 red ring you've got, just try to overheat the console and get the RROD so you can get it repaired for free.

And how do you purposely overheat a console?

The towel trick :)

Thats not exactly possible. My xbox wont turn on, unless i overheat it, then let it cool. Then i can play all i want until i turn it off again. I should have a box tomorrow to ship it in though.

Why do you think MS put the blame of this issue on a game?

And how do you purposely overheat a console? Leave it on for an extended period of time might do the trick. Put the console on in an enclosed space so the heat has nowhere to escape to. And as previously mentioned, you could always wrap the 360 up in a towel whilst turned on; just make sure it doesn't catch on fire!

Lol, my console started going like that when I was playing CoD4, and then I got the red light. But I don't believe it was the game that did it

I completely agree. I've had COD4 since the release date and have played close to 200 hours of MP on top of 30 hours of SP and have had no issues what so ever.

We all know tons of xbox 360 owners have experienced the RROD and i'm sure people have got the RROD on other games than COD4. It's the system and when ever a new game comes out and someone gets the RROD they blame the game. People just need to realize it's the consoles faault, even though we hate to admit it.

I got this about a week ago and my friend got a few months ago and COD 4 caused it for both of us.

Interesting...

I remember when Forza 2 came out there were a lot of people complaining that their XBox 360s had died.

The idea was (as I remember) that supposedly Forza was pushing the XBox's hardware more than previous games and therefore was causing a lot of the older models to overheat and die.

I guess this could technically be possible, but more likely in my eyes is that it was just coincidence, as the failure rate of 360 was so high at one point, it would probably seem like something was 'knocking them out'.

I doubt CoD4 can kill your Box, I think it's more likely that people play GOOD games like COD4 for longer periods of time than more mediocre games, therefore leading to easier overheating of the console.

Im convinced it is CoD4. This is the only game that is screwing up. Once i overheat it, the color is all grainy and has black spots all over the screen. GoW, Bully, Ninja Gaiden2, etc all works.

So i guess ill send my xbox in tomorrow and get it back in a couple of weeks...

Personally, no problems.

I've heard that in the long run, purposely overheating your console to solve the RROD problem will end up doing more damage to your Xbox 360.
It's best just to get it sent in for repairs/get it replaced.
