Points with the strike teams active

For some strange reason, although I'm racking up a load of red colored points, my total amount on the upgrade screen is frozen at 800 someodd thousand.

Is it supposed to be cumulative like I thought and I have a glitch or is it that I need to acquire 1 million in a single run while strike teams are active?

You need the points in one run while active. Once cleared of strike temas, the counter restarts.

I did it after beating the story mode. Got my threat level to 9 and used the Thunderclap rage power. Got it pretty quick (as well as the score cheevoe)
