there are two best locations for doing this

1ST area: Near center of map by lake, its an underground storage area (has big circle design near it)

2ND area: Lowest left area of map big house has flood lights outside of building. has fire hose you use to climb down from the 2nd floor (near first root of evil)

you do not need to do all of that i only did the achievement ones and the useless achievement then i transfered liquid from one bottle to another. You do not need blood

Both of these Helped alot. Went round and round. Turned out that i had to just tape up the flare ;). Done now thanks guys got my 1000 now YUS!

...hehe :) your guide is better :) because it's quicker but mine is with 97% of the elements in the game :drunk. And and believe me...when I first go for that ach. I have all the combinations done except the blood pack...as soon as I combined A flare with a blood pack..poof..the ach. unlocked. I don't know if there is a bug...but that's my story...

Yes, you can skip the Episodes. Once you have done the combination for an episode skip to next one (just save your progress). Now for your 2 missing combinations...just load up Episode #4 - Sequence #2 and then just search the nearby zone. It's there...just search with atention. You can use any guide you want...I don;t wanna make the other guide look bad (it's a good guide) but...you see...sometimes you need the blood pack to get that ach. sometimes you don't. In my case (and JBURNICLE case :D)...we needed the blood pack...It's choise :Bounce:

i did all the above on Ronan's list mate! but didnt get it str8 away had to have a mess around with flares and glowsticks and tape!!! just trial and error keep at it

I'm curious surely you should only have to make one combination let me explain that a little better if both;

Glowstick + Taped Medical Spray = Glowing Spray &
Glowstick + Taped Anti-Rust Spray = Glowing Spray,

make glowing spray surely you only need to make 1 variety of this as glowing spray would be the combination? I don't know but am just putting it out there but to me this would make sense.

Go to the top left of the map on chapter 8, there should be a small hut with plenty of items inside (Even the Bloodpack) but it doesn't have a flare or Glowstick (But you should have used these by now) so just go there mate.

Just a note I never touched the water bottle in this game or even came across one.

Some of them are doubled up by the way. For example, if you put a glow stick on any spray, you don't need to do it for medical, mosquito, as they're one of a kind a "spray" it also covers explosive bottles and glass, as I've never put a glow stick on a explosive bottle or a glass one I've only put it on a rust spray.

In all honesty, you will do much of the combo's throughout the game, as you need to to get past most of the areas, such as taping a bottle to a door to blow it up, and later areas where you need use a molotov to get past certain area's the only one I needed to do was the glow stick on a spray, but the list I show above is all that I did in the game.

EDIT: i think it just glitched temporarily or somethin cos when i turned it back on the next combo i made gave me the ach. (i think it was something simple like handkerchief + plastic bottle lol)

Okay, if anyone wants definitive evidence that you don't need to do all the combinations to get this achievement, check my profile (Pogo27) sometime in the next few days.

I've got "Handyman Carnby" despite not having "Useless!"

And heck, even after I do get useless, the achievements are still sorted in the order you got them in, and I'll almost definitely get some other achievements between now and "Useless!"

Unfortunately, I didn't make a list of every combination I made, but some combinations that I know I didn't make include all of the empty glass bottles. I never got an emergency flare attached to a glass bottle, only plastic.

I think that you should probably get "Handyman Carnby" eventually just by playing through the game and using ingenuity to make various combinations, etc. Everytime I was at a relatively safe point in the game with plenty of items, I got out my sticky tape and tried every possible combination.

Where do you find the glowsticks in Ep3.2?

The Glowstick is in 3.1. Next to Theo's dead body is another dead body, and next to the 2-nd body there is a Glowstick. After that just help sarah up so she can call the ambulance and then take Theo's phone. Call 911, the doctor will tell you to get to the public restroom. Once you get there you can start the guide.

No. After you combine your items just press start and select the next Episode and a msg. will pop and ask you to save the game.Save the game and continue with the next Episode.

Where is the glowstick in Ep2.2? I must be blind as I played through the entire S2 again and couldn't find any Glowstick's anywhere. Any help would be appreciated.

Nvm: I found a place in Epp. 8.1 and in the end turns out I mainly needed to tape up a bloodpack it seems. Yay 1000! :p

Right at the beginning you can grab a few combonations.

I got the achievement as soon as I taped up the Blood Pack. I was on Episode 7, about half the way through. I had don't a bunch of the combinations listed in the guide, but still had loads of them to do, like the Flare ones. Seeing as so many people are getting the achievement just from tapping the Blood Pack, maybe the achievement is glitched? If so, it's a good glitch and saves loads of time.

OR maybe doing some stuff is just duplicating the final result. Example: Tape an explosive Plastic Bottle+Bullets and it has the same name as a Tapped Empty Plastic Bottle+Bullets. I don't think the achievement needs EVERY possible combination, just the combos that have a unique name.

Tape has to be on everything first.
Tape the glowstick/flare and the glass/plastic containers seperatly. Then combine them. If that doesnt work I dont know what to tell you.

You can find blood when you hit the surface of the park from ch 3 or 4 forgot.

Just head to the place that has 3 tree's of evil or w/e its in the medical pack

I have to strongly disagree. If you haven't encountered one glitch, consider yourself a miracle. This game is full of bugs, glitches and overall awkwardness. Handyman is probably glitched me for seeing as how I've done everything on the guide on this site and the achievement hasn't popped for me.

theres quite a few places
theyre mostly in medical cabinets or if you play chp 8 seq 1 theres an overturned ambulance that has one outside of it

After I did every thing on Ronan's guide and I got nothing I was so pissed I felt like finding Armake 21 and smacking sense into him for duping me into renting this game (J/k he's great). After I read that you might have to refill water into empty glass and plastic bottles, I went toward that house with the basement entrance. You know the one where you have to fiddle with the fuse box and use the elevator to take out a couple roots. Well I stopped by the building on the way b/c for some reason my A4 magnum disappeared and was on a table there. I saw a few glow sticks so I thought well maybe those didn't register when I taped them last time. Sure enough I got the achev.

One word to sum up this game is "tedious"

1ST area: Near center of map by lake, its an underground storage area (has big circle design near it)

2ND area: Lowest left area of map big house has flood lights outside of building. has fire hose you use to climb down from the 2nd floor (near first root of evil)

Though I am not really that suprised to see that people are having trouble with this achievement, I didnt think it was hard at all... I managed to get this achievement during Episode 3 Sequence 4 on my first playthrough without skipping ahead at all, or using a guide... i just simply explored and picked up every item i could find and combined everything i could combine and it popped up as soon as i taped up the blood pack near the first Evil Root (on my way to the ambulance)
Hopefully others will be as fortunate with this achievement as i was...

Ah..finally..I went through every single combination over and over and it just wouldn't pop up! Then I realized I hadn't taped up a bloodpack so I spent forver trying to find one..then when I found one and taped it up, it still didn't unlock! So out of frustrastion, I became a master taper and just started taping every single thing I could find..eventually, I taped a glowstick, which I had done many times before, and it finally unlocked! 1000 points and I will never play this game ever again :)

Same thing here, I was in the sewers grabbing an anti-rust spray so I could tape a flare to it, and combined ammo box with the gun before I went up the ladder, and OH YIS! achievement.

Which had me thinking, I taped a flare with med spray before, but not the rust or mosquito sprays. So I'm guessing that for spray bottle combos, it doesn't matter which type of spray you have for taping up and attaching items to it, so long as its a spray. maybe? Just throwing it out there.

I got the achievement as soon as I taped up the Blood Pack. I was on Episode 7, about half the way through. I had don't a bunch of the combinations listed in the guide, but still had loads of them to do, like the Flare ones. Seeing as so many people are getting the achievement just from tapping the Blood Pack, maybe the achievement is glitched? If so, it's a good glitch and saves loads of time.

OR maybe doing some stuff is just duplicating the final result. Example: Tape an explosive Plastic Bottle+Bullets and it has the same name as a Tapped Empty Plastic Bottle+Bullets. I don't think the achievement needs EVERY possible combination, just the combos that have a unique name.

i just got the achievement as well by taping up the blood pack, I had spent about 1-2 hours re-doing every combination that I had done before puzzled as hell as to what I could have missed, i know 100% that I had taped up a blood pack in one of the earlier chapters the first time I came across it though, so this achievement is very much glitched, i figure if anyone is having any trouble getting the handyman carnby achievement they should tape up a bloodpack again before doing anything else and see what happens, just my two cents.

I unlocked this one after making a combo I know I had made many times before. (tape + explosive plastic bottle + rag = molotov cocktail IIRC ) But I did use this guide to make all of the combos listed earlier.

So I'd suggest ticking off the combos listed here and if you still don't get it just make random combos you've made before and hopefully it will trigger.

I wish when devs made achievements like this they would add a 'Stats' page to the pause menu where you could see exactly where you stand.

Spray Can + Tape + Flare was the one that did it for me. Thought I'd have one last tinker before I worked myself through the guide. Taped everything I could and all the combos I could think of (using the contents of that water filled room with the lift in it).

To make it a little clearer for anyone still having trouble (probably no one acept me until 5 minutes ago. heh). As suggested somewhat by others above me, you do not need to make all the different combos of the one Final item.

For example:
"Plastic Bottle + Tape + flare" is the same result as "Taped plastic bottle + Taped Flare", or "Plastic Bottle + taped flare"... etc etc.

I am also reasonably sure you do not need to use both Bandage and Hanky. I say this as I did not realise you could use Bandage for this combo, so I am 99% sure I got the chiev using only hanky (or.. rag)

Also, you do not need to use water to fill a bottle, you can use Fuel or Alcohol as well. You DO need to fill a bottle, as this was the final combo I did to unlock the chiev. (Fuel from a plastic bottle into an empty Glass bottle if you are interested in exacts).

Hope this helped settle the muddy areas for all us slow pokes still playing the game. :)

Whoa I just got this achievement without even doing all the requirements. I never filled anything with water and never used empty plastic bottles or handkerchiefs. I don't even think I did all combinations for spray can. Only used explosive bottle and explosive glass bottle and combined double sided tape with bandages, glowstick, flare, and bullets. Also did double sided tape to flare, glowstick and bloodpack individually. Also poured 1% or something of glass bottle into molotov bottle. And of course did the combinations for the other achievements.

I think for this achievement you have to just have combine a certain amount of items ie, if there are 100 combinations in the game and you get say 90 the achievement might unlock. I think this as many people say that you dont need to combine the blood pack with anything but when i combined a blood pack with tape i got the achievement. I printed off the list from this guide and marked off as i combined however, you cannot combine a bandage with a spray bottle so the next combo i tried was the blood pack and PING!!!

Double sided tape-blood pack was the winner for me.
I completed the game and started with weird ones that I know I hadn't done yet so I wouldn't have to go through all of them again.
And its very random because I know for a fact I never used the emergency flare with anything else, so there are a few combos with that alone that I know I didn't do.

I haven't read through every page of this thread however i did follow the achievement guide and didn't unlock the achievement. The thing that unlocked the achievement for me was a Taped Glowstick. Doublesided Tape + Glowstick. I was working through Ronan's list he made at the start of the thread. Thanks Ronan!

huuuh.i just got this achievement 2 mins ago.the last combination was ammo box(for all guns) +taped mosquito spray=extra pack bomb.i hope this will be usefull.

I didnt realise I had never actually combined the bullets with Magnum in the inventory, ive only ever pressed (B) or continued firing wit [RT]!

I think this is glitched for me...

I've done the following:

Yet it won't unlock.

Just looking, but you havent got:

On all Bottles: Tape + glowstick, Tape + Flare, Tape + ammo
(without a bandage or hankie)

Also if your have stacked Glowsticks/flares you may have to tape them over and over untill all the ones you have are taped for it to recognise them.

I was only about halfway thru the list on this guide and the achievement popped. I did combine a lot during my playthru but no way got them all, this achievement is known to be glitchy so I guess mine just glitched good for a change!

Well, I finally got my achievement right after I beat the museum boss; just put some tape on a blood pack and all was well. ^^

I got this achievement just by doin the combinations for the achievements, and then, tape+flare, tape+glowstick, tape+bloodpack and then empty glass bottle+water,so there isn't as many combinations as some people think...got my 1000/1000gs now, cheers!

i got this first playthrough with no problem didnt go out of the way and didnt even try to get it.

i know theres a few there i didnt do so.

my bet is, that you only need to get each result once. to count as the achievement

example.

Health spray + tape + glowstick = glow spray
Anti rust spray + Tape + glowstick = glow spray


cause i know for a fact i never even picked up anti rust spray.

I did this in the location where 3 roots of evil are in ep 7...in that house where u blow the door to enter and ...the other location for explosive bottle and sprays, blood...etc... in the place where u found the first root of evil.

1ST area: Near center of map by lake, its an underground storage area (has big circle design near it)

2ND area: Lowest left area of map big house has flood lights outside of building. has fire hose you use to climb down from the 2nd floor (near first root of evil)

I just wanted to say thanks! I finally got that "Handyman Carnby" achievement to pop up!

After messing with it for hours, it turned out to be the blood pack + double-sided tape. I thought I had already did that one, but I guess I did not save it or something. I was trying all the other ones until I thought to try the blood pack + double-sided tape. Once I did that, "Achievement Unlocked."

Anyway, great guide and really helpful! Now, onto finishing this game!

I didn't check all pages for whether this has been mentioned before, but the achievement popped for me when I reloaded the gun through the inventory (not just pressing B in First Person). You'll propably need to reload the flash light the same way. Otherwise, great guide!

You apparantly dont have to combine every item, only the TITLES of the items are enough. For instance, the game does not care if you make a molotov cocktail with handkerchief or bandages. Worked nicely for me, actually did get it in 5 minutes!

Beware of that house though, scary place ;)

PS: Do it on Chapter 8, sequence 1. Here you start in a safe place with a shitload of loot lying around, makes it easier to get there safely as you dont have any items when you load a specific chapter/sequence.

The achievement has just now popped up for me and here are the only combinations I actively chased:

Empty Glass Bottle + Water
Empty Plastic Bottle + Water
Bloodpack + Double Sided Tape
Glowstick + Double Sided Tape
Flare + Double Sided Tape

I know for fact that I never did combinations such as Explosive Glass Bottle + Double Sided Tape + Handkerchief + Bullets, Empty Glass Bottle + Double Sided Tape + Handkerchief + Glowstick etc which makes me think that as long as you have every combination achievement, you only need the five combinations I listed above (possibly less? I read bloodpack may not be needed).

If anyone would like to test this for me (because I'm not going to ever play this game again once it's done haha), can they try a run making just the following?

Any combination that unlocks Basic Combination achievement- explosive/water/empty plastic/glass bottle with tape
Any combination that unlocks The Sticky Bomb achievement- explosive plastic/glass bottle, or spray with tape
Any combination that unlocks The Glowstick Bomb achievement- explosive plastic/glass bottle, or spray with tape and glowstick
Any combination that unlocks The Molotov Cocktail achievement- explosive plastic/glass bottle with handkerchief/bandage
Any combination that unlocks the Fire bullets achievement- explosive plastic/glass bottle with gun

Sorry if this theory has already been brought up and disproven, and doubly sorry if this seems like I'm insulting the OP's original work- I'm very thankful for this thread because it got me the achievement :) All I know is I've only used a single handkerchief in the entire game so far and I've unlocked the achievement, even though there's twelve combinations a handkerchief can be used with- it could be a glitch on my part for all I know, but I got this achievement far faster than I expected and all because I was lazy and wanted to start with the simple 2-piece combinations haha.

you do not need to do all of that i only did the achievement ones and the useless achievement then i transfered liquid from one bottle to another. You do not need blood

id just like to confirm that the blood pack with double sided tape IS Required, it was the last one i needed as ive followed alot of others advice in it not being needed.

I was going through yet another list and I did taped bloodpack (which I had done many times before) THEN did a taped flare afterwards to see if I could stick them together somehow and BAM! THIS GOT MY ACHIEVEMENT! I do not know if all the above are necessary in the original post, but I do know:

I had all other achievements in the game (Others don't matter, but I know the combo acheves matter. I was sitting at 970/1000)

I read this post, and decided to tape up a flare, and when I taped the glowstick, achievement unlocked!

I also:

Taped the bloodpack
"Combined" bullets and gun (Didn't reload)
Cursed a whole helluva lot at this game

The place I did all this combo stuff is at the bottom left hand side of the map, where you have to go into the basement and up the elevator to kill the roots. It has most of the things you need (I would bring a hankerchief and bandages with you, you can do everything else there)

My journey to this achievement was actually quite painless; I used a minimal amount of combinations.

In addition to the item combos for other achievements, I did the following:

Bullets + gun
Taped explosive bottle + Ammo box
Taped spray + Ammo box
Taped bottle + Flare
Explosive bottle + handkerchief + flare
Taped spray + flare
Explosive glass bottle + handkerchief
Explosive plastic bottle + handkerchief
Bottle + glowstick
Explosive bottle + handkerchief + glowstick
Spray + glowstick

Additionally, I taped every object: Anti-rust spray, mosquito spray, medical spray, blood pack, flare, glass and plastic bottles, and glowsticks.

I never used water combinations at all; I did, however, pick one up out of one of the machines, which may in itself account for a combination. I also used one bottle (both plastic and glass varieties) to fill another, which may count for something.

I can verify that you DO NOT need to do anything with water from a vending machine. I never did this once. The last one I needed was mixing an explosive glass bottle with and empty plastic one.

Thank you jokerxbl and RonanN1 for the lists. I followed RonanN1's however and I think my game glitched in a good way. I know for a fact the only time I did anything with the blood pack was when I was messing around and just double taped it. I wound up going through RonanN1's Episode list and got to Episode 3 Sequence 4 and all I did was double tape a flare and I got it. So either the game thought I did so many things with the blood pack (which I didn't) or it glitched. Either way I'm happy it's out of the way!

You can easily get this as early as ep3.

Whene you emerge from the sewers into the park just bob over to the white circle on the map in the SW. In the boiler room of this house before the three roots of evil is (almost? see below) everything you need. A single rare flare is found here and is what i was looking for as I had all else done in ep2.

You may need to bring with you a hankerchief (if you find a grot mag). Do not drop the hankerchief in the water as I don't think you can pick it up again. I also already had taped glass, plastic bottle and spray can all with my backup full boxes of ammo and to save space I had a hanky on one of the bottles and a bandage on the other.

This is what I found (from memory).
