The reason why the Wii is so high is for innovation, and just the fact it is so darn cool! It could be one, only if it proves that someone can create a better online system than Live, yet I doubt that will happen. The Xbox had to be put in front of PS2 because of online capabilities, where PS2 failed miserably. Go 360!

Most of these look exactly the same- want to know why? Because there are only about five good consoles ever.

1. EXCEPTION: 360 (just better, got it in January)
2. PS2 (Had it for 5-7 years [since release] I still love it, but 360 ate it)
3. Gameboy Color (My loyal time waster for about 3 years. Gotta love the 'mon!)
4. Super Nintendo (Got this when I was really young. Oh, how I loved Donkey Kong, Oh how I loved it. They should make a Live Arcade Donkey Kong. I'd buy all 3 originals)
5. '64 (Nostalgia. I never had one until a few months ago, where I bought one for 40 bucks [with SM64] just to relive old moments with my best friend. I havn't seen him forever, now, and the 64 is all I have as a souvenier *tear*)

There seems a common thing to all the top 5 consoles people have posted. I mean the next gen is at the top and old classics at the bottom, surely thats obviously going to happen. Could you be really harsh on yourself and try to rate them, all on the same level in there own respect, at their own time? I know i couldn't coz the 360 just blows them all out the water no matter how much you try to ignore the graphics and depth of games, you just cant!

I thought id give reasons as to why as well.

1.Snes

There was always something fantastic to play,
including Super mario world,Street fighter 2 turbo,Killer instinct,Uni rally,
Donkey kong country 1-3,Super mario kart,final fantasy and i could go on and on.
Supported by nearly every games company,
Introduced mode 7 which ment playing games like starfox was fantastic and looked like nothing seen before at the time,

Truly a golden time in gaming.

2.Sony Playstation

Seeing the step up in graphics and gameplay from what was available,
and playing nearly perfect arcade versions of ridge racer,tekken and many other games,
on a sad note it did also make me not want to go and waste money in arcades as i could play most of the same games at home.
Emerged as a shock competitor to Sega and Nintendo and really shook up the world of gaming.
Helped get rid of part of the stigma that says gamings for just kids.
Had fantastic games like the final fantasy series,tekken series,metal gear solid,soul blade,tombraider,breath of fire 3,wild arms,tony hawk,ape escape,resident evil and quite a few more.

3.PS2

Carried on from where they left off with the playstation 1,
expanding on the fan base that they had made.

Introduced the next step up in graphics,unfortunatley not much extra in gameplay.
Released more games for its console than any other system before giving an unprecented choice.
(Yep i know there was a lot of crap,but there was also a lot of great games)
Is still selling well today even though the 360,ps3 and wii are available.
Improved on some of the games from the playstation allowing bigger levels,
better graphics and more things possible.
Noteworthy games are the Devil may cry series,metal gear solid series,final fantasy series,Burnout series,Ratchet and Clank,Timesplitters 3,GTA,God of war,Gran tourismo,Tony hawk 3 & 4,Gitaroo man,project zero.

4.Dreamcast

1st liquid cooled console,
Although not the 1st online console officially,made it possible for people to play together online on consoles in masses.
Intresting addon controllers that added to the whole gaming experience,
like the fishing rod,the microphone and other controllers.
Allowed users to browse the web from the console.

The VMU which wasnt just a memory card it allowed you to download games to it and play them on your travels.
(I found this pretty hand at work allthough that battery life was bad)

Had direct ports from sega arcade games produced on their naiomi board.

Noteable games are Resident evil code veronica,Virtua tennis,Virtua Fighter 3tb,Ready 2 Rumble boxing,Marvel Vs Capcom,Snk Vs Capcom,Shenumue 1 & 2,Skies Of Arcadia,Sega Rally 2,Powerstone 1 & 2,Metropilis Street Racer(The Start Of PGR),Crazy Taxi,Jet grind radio,Street Fighter series,Rez,Soul Calibur,Giga wing and Confidential mission.

5.Xbox 360

I wasnt sure if i should put this on here or not,
As the 360 has been indifferent in parts,so i thought id also add some of the cons as well.

Xbox Live

All i can say is wow, you can download demos,games,music and other stuff.
Chat to people not only just in the game your playing,
but while they play a different game to you.
Additional content for games that makes an old game sometimes worth going back to or extending your favourite games life.

Co-op Gameplay online
Being able to play the main single player game with your mates,
does it get much better?

Gamerpoints

Love them or hate them,you must admit that microsoft are on a winner with these,
how many times have you completed a game in the past and thrown it to one side with just the main story completed before gamerpoints?
Now with gamerpoints ask yourself the same question,
A lot of people now get more out of the games than before.

Friends

On the ps2 i couldnt find out if my friends were online unless i phoned them,or happened to be playing the same game as them,
Now with live i can just look at my list to see if they are on,when they were on last if not online,what games they are playing,invite them to a game im playing,accept invites to games they are playing.

Faceplates

Although not really a big thing,but being able to change the front rather than stick with the default face plate is a nice touch.

Plug And Play Kit

While using my wireless pads on my cube and ps2,
the only sign i had that the batterys were going was when they went off with flat batterys.
Now with the plug and play kit and the wireless pad i get a light flashing round on my pad telling me to charge it,
plus not only that but i can keep playing while it charges.

Usb ports for mp3 players

Although i dont use this feature,
i know quite a fair few people do,
is there anything more simple than plugging in your Mp3 player into the 360 and changing the music from the game music to whats on your player?
I use to have to have my Stereo on to listen to music when i played games.

Noteable games are Gears Of War,Burnout Revenge,Oblivion,G.R.A.W.,Call Of Duty 2,Lost Planet,Viva Pinata and PGR3.

A few of the cons are,

Faulty 360s,
Im on my 2nd console my 1st lasted only 5 days,
and most of my mates are on their 2nd as well.

Games
Lack of game choices,wheres the Rpgs,Fighting games,Platformers and other games besides First person shooters.
Half arsed releases of unfinished games,
Months without any games like last summer when only G fighters and chromehounds were released.

Feedback system,
Totally flawed with people leaving you bad feedback if you beat them in a game.

Sweary Kids And Idiots
Theres nothing worse than people that just disrupt games for everyone else.

Quitters
How many times do you wait in a lobby for a game to start,
then when it does start than someone quites because they are last in a race or got killed a few times.

Gamesavers
No explanation needed

Although some of the cons are down to people,its only with the 360 that you get to meet these cretins at present.

While I won't go in to depth like Flea, I'll include a little description as to why I chose them.

1.) Xbox 360 - Yeah what a surprise. I never have been such an avid gamer until now. Achievements are very addictive.
2.) Nintendo - Duck Hunt and Mario. That's probably my first game experience.
3.) Sega Genesis - Got this after SNES. I remeber playing a few games. Mostly bad ones like Judge Dredd and this Goofy game. But Ristar was amazing.
4.) SNES - This would of been higher but the system I had was broken for a long time.
5.) N64 - This introduced local multiplayer for me. Games like Mario Party, Mario Kart. I had a lot of mario games.
