Total play time: 23 hours 32 Mins

final conclusion: The game sucks

Have up to it, this game is astoundingly stupid in a lot of ways, I own pretty much every DBZ game ever to see a PAL release so I at least know what I'm talking about (ish)

As far as fighting goes, what fighting? On any mode lower than hard the computers are too dumb to launch a punch, and on any mode higher you don't fight, you throw energy blasts, if you happen to land a punch the computer will have teleported, or, a drama piece will conviniently have kicked in for them

Of course, this will help you when it comes to XBL, as the computers fight cheaper than Humans!! There's been points where I've fought say, Krillin, and he'll fire off 14, yes, 14 Destructo Disks in a row o_O, what the hell?

Which brings me to my next point, Drama Pieces, a seemingly cool idea to start. They interrupt the flow of the fight, you can't skip them out or turn them off (on single player), more than once we've both had zero health and a drama piece kicked in for 10 seconds, making me unsure as to where I was...which leads to death >_<

They also seem to never work for you...randomly for you at best, but perfectly for the computer, don't get me started on Cell & Piccolo's regeneration ability

Single player story, well...what story? I know the DBZ saga's off by heart, but if you're a newbie, there's no backstory or explination, just little cutscenes that manage to skip a helluva lot out...

Survival Mode, one of my bigger bones to pick! Hardcore gaming, awesome, 100 wins in a row, without letting you turn off the xbox, increasing the difficulty 100fold when you've wasted and spent hours getting to fight 90? Not cool, at all

Multi-player? Online works well, however all I find are people spamming Vegeta, more annoyingly, he's my fave character  now everyone will assume I'm a spammer :( poor vegeta...

*thinks*

However having said all that...the graphics are pretty ¬_¬ that sure makes it better, right?

*sigh sigh* Rant over, a heavily frustrating game, which is a shame as I've been looking forward to it for about 5 months

Bud, i couldnt agree with you more, Im a fellow Brit who bought this on release date, and its terrible...Ultimate Battle 22 terrible. The online is one of the modes i was most looking forward to, and they screwed it up big time. Story was so under developed, i was just sat there thinking "Yeah, that never happend, that should have happend, and what would never happen"...and those 'What-ifs' could have been more fleshed out, like introduced a new transformation or character...
Personally, i blame Donny Clay, the fated moron who thinks he can make the best DBZ games ever >_> and just always fails to deliver....ironically, Budokai 3 was the best DBZ game to date (just before Donny started poking his nose in the franchise).

Budokai 3 is my all time fave =] I've played that so often

There could have been a whole bunch more what ifs (What if raditz was good, play as trunks in the future) instead we get broly, who appears o_O for no reason?

Its the silly things, I mean playing through the cell saga, you wouldn't even know Goku dies, the story is very much nonexistant

I agree that the backstory was very much a non-consideration....and people with no real understanding of DBZ won't find any help here.

I also partly agree about Drama pieces, they have their place in Z Chronicles mode (cause some do add a little to the story) but in a general versus fight or more importantly the trials they should have an option to switch them off.

There are a lot of things that have been missed out that could have been included. For me this was my first DBZ fighting game, and for all its flaws...i still enjoyed the majority of it.

I think maybe things would get better if they had DLC in future, but thats probably a long shot.....but the possibility is still there with this generation of console.

Its interesting to see what they could add...

First and foremost a patch to make survival easier -__-"

But Naruto made you pay for more characters....though there aren't really any more characters...if they were to add Buu, it would take away the need for a sequel..

Considering the DLC seen in other games so far, they could do a lot of things. They could add the Buu saga as a whole new chapter with all its various characters etc...but yea it would mean they couldnt make a sequel and that would result in either them dismissing the idea completely or charging a stupid price for DLC.

Then again, they could make Dragonball GT: Burst Limit! lol -_-

i know what ur on about it's so retarded I thought this game was gonna be so good but turned out to be one of the worst dbz games, this is just as crap as probably final bout (worst gameplay ever) and just reading ur comments made me crap myself laughing, this is what I think of Donny Clay :uzi:F**kin C**k!

It does win the runner up prize for best DBZ opening ever =] it was sweet, and the theme tune was awesome

Same with Final Bout actually XD Great theme, great vid, sucky game

Granted it is not the best game for the 360, but i sure like it and im honesty i wasnt going to think i would. I think BL2 will be out before theres any DLC. I enjoy it as i have all the other dragonball games. And im glad dimps have got the reins again. There are improvements that can be made, but thats what dbz games are all about. First one Okay, Second Good, Third One Fantastic (budokai series only).

But i for one am enjoying it ^^

I was enjoying it, and do =]

Its just a very frustrating game...however doing certain bits is enjoyable...the replay value is pretty decent...fighting through the Saiyan saga is great fun

I've been many years since I've watched DBZ, so I don't remember much of the story. I'm sure there's things missing though between Freiza and Cell? And the video at the end of the Cell series shows it. Where Freiza has metal parts? Trunks arriving(The game made me feel like it jumped alot!).

I think it's a fun game to play Story mode (Survival, 100 wins.. not worth bothering) and to play against friends, I will be playing online against people I know, probably purely for the achivements.

I do agree with the Regeneration though, I was slapping Piccolo up the face on the Brolly Story part, he grew his arm back, was like, he's just got two health bars back..? Still managed to finish him off though.

I do think it's overall it's a fun game though, and the intro music is quality.

I think its very much a game that has the pick up n play quality....it dosnt ask much of your time (long as you avoid surivial :P ), i'll definately be going back through it again and again in the future.

Only think they're two?

Worldwide Contender 5 G
Join 10 sessions over Xbox LIVE.

Worldwide Warrior 5 G
Create 10 sessions over Xbox LIVE.

No idea if ya need they need to be ranked or not.

I have both and I got them from player matches =]

I think there's a 100g acheivement for beating the game on Z - secret

2 100gs for beating each survival mode...

Then there's 20g for unlocking all drama pieces from each saga, and possibly an achievent for unlocking all drama pieces

I've played the game for about 14 hours now in 3 days since I have to return it to a friend of mine again today. I say I enjoyed it a lot, this is the first time I played one of the DBZ fighting games and also the first time I actually enjoy play a fighting game. But yes it has its flaws, but doesn't every game has it flaws?

The drama scene's, a whole new approach for fighting games, "Will occur during certain events", ha, the time when I need to take a dump is even less random then those events.

Broly, lol, I actually downloaded the movies to know who Broly was. And I did a bigger har har when I found out that Broly actually doesn't destroy everyone. I'm hoping there's some kind of true ending if you finish the game on Z.

About the characters, there are two kinds of "weak" characters to play with, Vegeta & Ginyu. Vegeta which allows you to quickly transform and also using the Ultimate Attack faster, and Ginyu with his body switch. For some reason I feel that each time when I play against Ginyu on Xbox Live I just know that I'm playing against a 12 year old kid who is laughing his ass off because the only thing he has to do after he switched is give a simple punch.

Oh, and is it just me not finding the option but you can't increase your life gauge online? If I want to play DBZ against my friends, I want to do it everlasting 10-episodes-need-for-a-single-villain-style. Punches, transforming, ultimate attack, getting beaten silly, losing transformation, do some kind of miracle save to transform again and etc.

Oh and to finish my rant, the online quiting is something I've gotten used to a long time ago. It's not only on DBZ.

Here's a list of stuff they really should've added:

-Cutscenes about the storyline, not the fighting. On the promotional videos prior to release i saw videos of King Kai's Planet and snake way. These sorts of videos would've been great to take a breather from playing the game. E.G videos about Goku's virus during Android saga, Dr.Gero and Android 19, Goku returning and meeting trunks, vegeta and trunks getting SSJ2 etc etc.

- Z-Chronicles battles missed. The rest of the Ginyu Force! WHERE WERE THEY! Bertur, Jace and Buldo. Zarbon and Dadoria would've beenso great! I loved them :P especially Zarbons frog transform haha. Garlic Jr. Saga small would've been nice although hardly anybody cares about his sorry @$$!! Children of Cell (Cell Jr.) would be fun and make it just like the saibamen with a level (maybe 2 actually) each to make it interesting. Those pesky little dudes were great.

- Characters.
- Playable Cyborg Frieza (seen in video after completion of Frieza Saga)
- Playable King Cold (seen in video after completion of Frieza Saga)
- Playable Cell Jr. (little blue "children of cell")
- Playable Androids 19 & 20 (they're not so great though...)

-Arenas. WOW! THEY GAVE US A WHOLE 5 ARENAS! Oh, but apperently changing the colours changes that 5 into a 10. pfft.

- Arena for King Kai's Planet
- Arena for Snake Way
- Arena for Hyperbolic Timechamber (big whiteness please, not some space crap ripoff)
- Arena for Kami's Lookout (Now that would be fun to destroy!!!)

That's it lol

well, what can i say, i don't think i've ever watched a dbz cartoon. so i know nothing of the story. i bought the game purely on the demo bein so good. but i still don't really understand much about the story line. and yes, the drama peices drive me insane. and why is it if you fail to win a fight, you have to go all the way back to the saga tree to choose your fight again, can't i just continue??

this is the first time I played one of the DBZ fighting games and also the first time I actually enjoy play a fighting game.

I agree with that, I've avoided fighting games for a long time because they really havn't interested me (Soul Calibur 3 was the last one i ever owned), but Burst Limit is definately more enjoyable than the standard fare.

Its fairly easy to get into and play

My biggest complaint is that on harder difficulties, compters simply teleport, you can't land a normal punch, so the fighting simply turns into a Ki blast fest

That said, it was like that on Budokai 3 now and then...

On budokai 2, was it not Frieza and Goku that were the only characters that could use it? It was better that way..

I dunno what you're all complaining about tbh. yeah the drama scenes are a huge kick to my nuts and annoying as hell and yeah the story's not that long and hasn't got much cut scenes but the fighting system and online's pretty dam good. it's a huge, HUGE improvement on tenkaichi 1, 2 and 3 so it's a step in the right direction. the characters are pretty balanced, none of them are weakling joke characters really altho I havn't played with sybamen and don't plan to. all in all it's pretty good and the best dbz game by far since budokai 3

I agree its better than tenkaichi, that series was awful

I was hoping for a next gen budokai 3, we got a next gen budokai 1

I like the fact it only concentrates to cell saga (however you get the feeling that's just so they can release another game) but they could have added more characters, chozu (horrid spelling, I know), the other ginyu force members, etc.

The balance is my fave thing out the game, now you really can beat Broly with Tien, genius! xD

I am also a hardcore DBZ fan and agree this game could have been alot better. Here are some points that really bug me.

As online a casual beat-em-up player i found both AI and online players incredibly frustrating and cheap.
The Z Chronicals mode was seriously lacking - in both story and fun.
Very limited amount of characters, i didn't expect them to give us everyone who ever threw a punch like Chi-Chi and Turtle, but their were a lot of good characters who were important to the story but got missed out.
Drama pieces - although a cool idea, they are a pain in the ass to obtain, especially when you get the ones you want and the computer then cheaps out on you - KO'ing you in split seconds and thus losing you pieces.
As someone else mentioned - not being able to pump the Live battles settings up to have massive uninterrupted fights (don't want rounds!) so you and your friends can slog it out.

So those are a few of the things i don't like, but overall i still guess i can say i enjoyed the game, i am a DBZ fan afterall, i'll just be sitting here in the corner waiting for DBZ:BL2 patiently.

Lol, very ditto =]

Well comparing in to the past few DBZ games this is a massive step in the right direction, hopefully number 2 will improve on everything, that would be awesome :)
