The Incredible Hulk, having played it for a few hours, does in fact bear striking resemblance to the last Hulk game, Ultimate Destruction. Comparisons will arise, so I thought this would be a useful thread to anyone looking to compare the two games. Fill it with your opinions and observations.
Gaining abilities I think has to be the most radical change, as now you need to perform feats, as opposed to buying them with ambiguous points. The threat level system has been overhauled to much better effect, this time featuring at least 9 levels (though at this time I can't seem to get past the 4th level regardless of how many things I destroy).
The scope of TIH feels like a next-gen effort, but the control scheme is a tad awkward. I had trouble selecting a target if the Hulk wasn't looking at them. This time around, the destruction of buildings is much more enjoyable and I liked that giant robot battle early on, despite it being a bit short.
The city feels more alive this time around too. More people on the streets acting more realistic. The drivers are ridiculous as ever, panicking and driving headlong into buildings, trees and whatever else they can. I just stood there and watched that for a few minutes.

yeah, on the threat level, it will increase over time, as you progress through the game. you will know you can reach a higher level when the caption says something about new research for you enemeys
and i would have to say, in comparison, they are almost equal, with ultimate destruction winning just slightly
and here are some of my reasons
first of the incredible hulk...
looks great, well hulk does, the city looks good, but they deff took more time with hulk than the city, and it is a weird contrast. as far as the upgrades, i do and dont like them, mainly because i have all these points, and what to show for them, i mean really, what are the points for, other than reaching a point goal. and when you start out, hulk is pretty lame, and im sorry but hulk should start out badass, and progress to bad ass mother ******, not ok hero to bad ass hero.
and i agree with your statement about the aim, it seems slugish and somewhat nonresponcive, i spend more time throughing object at air than at enemeys... oh and about the objects, i absolutely love throughing just about every thing ata a building, and it sticking, i just love it
ultimate desruction...
first off, this game is one of my favorites, loved the upgrade system, loved just about every thing about it, i was actually hoping this game would be almost an exact clone, just with some little improvments. in ultimate destruction, you really get a feel for how heavy and masive hulk really is, and when i say that, im talking about when you jump and then try to stop movien, and you bounce off the ground, i loved that, and that might not seem like much, but every jump i take in incredilbe hulk i miss that, i really really miss that...
but i could ramble on and on, and i dought any one will read that whole thing
so over all, i would give it to ultimate, but for a out of 10 score for IH, i give it a 7, but i havnt gotten all the upgrades yet so i may update my score later
excelsior???

i think for the original xbox ud was and still is one of the marvel games of its time. this new hulk game is good too in its own right for the next gen console 360.

I think this is the definite successor the H:UD. Whatever game that has a sequel can be hit-or-miss with changes/upgrades to the engine and mechanics, and this is no exception to the rule.
I miss the running up a building, but climbing gets much faster the higher the building.
I miss picking up civilians, climbing a really tall building, and setting them down/patting their little heads. I felt like Kong. Of course I left them up there with no way down.
I love the new character models/secret chars. Definitly next-gen. The Maestro was a nice surprise, the Gamestop-exclusive Red Hulk is cool, Joe Fixit, Ironclad, and Hulkbuster Ironman all just improve on the game experience.
The Achievements for the most part are well balanced.
I hate fighting Ironclad. Especially when it's Ironclad and another U-Foe. He's annoying and takes forever to expose himself. Or maybe I just suck at killing him.
The rage powers are sorta the same in terms of coolness, but I'm looking to upgrade some more before I pass final judgement.

I do like that the slowdown that marred UD is not, thus far, in evidence with this one. This is one of the more enjoyable mindless games on the market.

I think the comparison is over. It has been a long, long time since I have played such an unpolished game.
The targeting mechanism is a joke, too. If you lock on a target and move around, the game assumes you want to switch targets.
Freezing repeatedly, messed up audio tracks, horrible glitches... This game has it all. So much wasted potential!
Because Ultimate Destruction was actually a complete game, let us never speak of them in the same sentence ever again.
