I think it would be a good idea to have a stickied request thread in the Garage Sale forum.

Example: Person A has been thinking of selling a game or piece of hardware( on ebay of course), then he/she sees in the request thread that Person B is looking to buy that certain item. Person A then places it on ebay. everyones happy.

just an idea.

thoughts?

I've thought about this before as well Fonkey, but I think that all Requests will just be bumped down. I don't see it working out too well, unless there was a better, more efficient way of going about this.

The subscribers are doing this, except they're trading games, both permanently and temporary. :P

It has worked out well so far, but doing it with more than a few people gets complicated.

CAG has the same system and it's implemented very well.

No harm in trying it is there?

There is actually. With the subscriber's board, it's mainly people that have been here for a good while and can be trusted. Any yayhoo can screw someone over if it's made a public thing. Sadly.

Along with what Otis said, the thread would get spammed to kingdom come. People could post whenever they have a random thought of wanting a game. Just what I think maybe, but I am pretty sure it would happen.

Good point, and some people might change their minds halfway into the transaction, which would be a real pain.

But the Garage Sale has requirements already, 3 months x amount of posts or something like that. i dont think this would change anything.

All you would have to do is make it so the posts dont count in the garage sale, then no one would have a reason to spam.

It's through ebay, so not only would the person get negative feedback, but be banned from the garage sale and probably more.

Did you not read the thread or did you just feel like replying with a pointless post?

And yea, this seems like something that could just lead to stupidity. Some idiot would ask for every game under the sun, and then never bid on them, leaving the seller shafted. Or someone would put a game up with a "Buy it Now" price and a third party would grab it. Your best chance is to just pop a Wanted List in your sig and hope someone sees it.

And post counts don't count in the Garage Sale anyway.

i didnt know that was allowed, last time i did that i got an infraction.

There's no harm in trying, but I stand by what I believe in and that every members' posts will just be bumped. With the traffic we receive and I'm sure there are many members out there that are looking for something Game related, everyone will just start posting over each other.

Who would like to sort through a 10 page thread checking if people still want what they requested for?

Certainly not me.

I rather just post what I have for sale and if members want it, feel free to place a bid.
