Exploding Cars

I've been wondering for about 2 weeks now; why do some cars just happen to explode? Specifically, I can shoot one car in the engine and it explodes, but put 3 clips into another with the AK and it doesn't.

Is there some way to tell exploding cars, or am I just rambling here?

certain weapons affect how quick a car will blow, as well as where you shoot it. the shotgun usually makes quick work of them.

i dunno if that gas tank usually works. like in the other gta games, you could see the gas thingy on the car and you could blow it up immediately. but its not there in gta 4 so maybe if you shoot that place where it should be, it would blow up.

Didnt think of that, maybe my car exploding shots are really just lucky shots.

The fastest way to blow up a vehicle with guns is to fire at the spot right above the rear wheels, where the gas tank would be located IRL.

I've fired 3 shots from a shotgun at that spot and set a car on fire.

Also, I've noticed that you can take a full health car, crash into a wall at a certain angle, and it will explode on impact, even if you're not going too fast.

I took a Moonbeam (full health) off a stunt jump, and smashed into a barrier head on while at an angle, and the van just blew up, just like that.

So, I took one of those large semi trucks and started smashing into cars, trying to replicate the instant-explosion. I've found that there's 2 weak spots (the engine and the gas tank), and the vehicle will only explode on impact if you hit one of those spots hard enough at an angle.

It's hard to do, but when it happens, you'll crap your pants.

If you deagle the gas tank with 3 ~ 4 shots, it will start to fire up.
